In theory it wouldn't put me off, but coming home alone at night might scare me, especially if the house is some distance from my neighbours!

Doesn't bother me at all. As long as the cemetery is well maintained then I think they're great to live by - at least you know you're unlikely to end up with a car park, Tesco Extra or block of flats next to you.

One of the houses I lived in as a kid had a cemetary on one side, a vicarage on the other and the church opposite. It was wonderfully quiet!

The only slight fly in the ointment was that, when we had an extension built, the builders started bringing up human bones and all work had to stop for a bit whilst they were checked out. I can't remember what the outcome on that was.....perhaps suicides or something buried outside the cemetary boundaries.

I would never be put off buying opposite a cemetary or, indeed, be put off buying a house in which someone had been murdered/committed suicide (in fact you could probably get a good deal on one of those if you could find one!)

  • Yes, I'm not really scared by ghosts/grave yards/death in the house..etc and I'm pleased that the majority of you seem to think it's not a deal breaker :)
  • Think of the saving if one of you pops your clogs. No need for expensive rip off undertaker, just go next door with a shovel and you're done !

I'll makes no bones about it, I'm a pretty light sleeper so the constant coffin might be a deal breaker. :p
