I have put stuff on the hood and under the pushchair, (cant steer the ones I have owned with one hand) have never forgotten to pay for anything but also have never been stopped or asked though. I have never put stuff directly into a bag first though. Perhaps your Asda store has more theft than usual so they are just keeping a closer eye on people? If you are doing nothing wrong then don't worry about it too much, but you must see that some actions are perhaps a little dodgy looking?!

And maybe you have one of those faces! My ex had one, and whenever we went on holiday we always allowed an extra half hour to get through security as he was always pulled - without fail - and always on the way back again at customs. Once at the Eurostar terminal we (He) was pulled again by immigration after we had been passed through security as they were doing spot checks on why people were leaving the country.

At waitrose you can bag the stuff as you shop with a little scanner.

    Not quite!! :rotfl:

    lol. :D

Seriously though, with most prams, moving down tight aisles while weaving in and out of people, and not bashing your basket or pram into any of them as they leap around you is quite an achievement... for me anyway.

Getting a little fed up with going to our local Asda and getting questioned about what I'm doing with my shopping!

I went in very visibly 9months preggers, I had a bag for life and put the stuff in that rather than a basket because they're annoying and cumbersome. Got stopped by a manager whilst I was browsing, got asked if I was going to pay for those items because some nosy so and so saw me (in full view) putting the items in the bag.

Other times I've had stuff on the pram slowly browsing around and been 'reminded' that they're there. I've been in an empty isle just browsing again and a member of staff will pop in and out of the isle seemingly looking for something. REALLY annoying!

Nothing wrong with that is there

I usually pop in for one or two things but end up seeing a few bargains so inevitably I have to stack things on the pram. It's a bad habit really. I know they have to be vigilant but would a thief
be so obvious? What makes me laugh is there's probably someone in another isle pinching allsorts whilst they are busy watching me for no good reason. Yes ive seen some thieves make it obvious than what you desribe

I do like Asda and shop there a lot but starting to really put me off now!

Just do your shop as normal, im sure once they see you week after week they may stop annoying you. They may get alot of robbing bar stewards who use the pram to conceal items.

Do you not realise how hard it is to push a pram straight with one hand whilst holding on to a full heavy shopping basket with the other?

No, clearly not, because I have only had four children;)

It is perfectly possible to place a basket on the top of a pram and push pram and basket. Or even to place a basket under the pram at an angle and pop items into it as you go around. Provided it is obvious you are using their basket you should have no problems.

Sorry, but using a bag for life before paying does look suspicious, as does stacking shopping you have not paid for on a pram. Use the basket provided and you will have no problems.

Maybe, but it doesn't matter what it *looks* like in the least. Shop lifting, by definition, can't happen until you've walked out that door. Sure, you might attract attention, but to be questioned whilst still in the shop is not acceptable.

I use my bag for life rather than a basket in Waitrose. No one's ever batted an eyelid, nor questioned me. I even do it right in front of the security guard who hangs around the meat counter.

It matters to me what it looks like, and you are aware that shops pass info between them of suspected shoplifters? I don't want to be marked out as such simply because I can't be bothered using the accepted form of bag/basket when instore.

Of course you shouldn't be challenged in the shop, but maybe they thought they were doing her a favour in case she genuinely forgot the items and sailed through the till with some unpaid good under the pram.

When shopping with a pushchair, I have never put shopping in the basket underneath, it was too small, there was only enough room for the raincover and that's it!

I used to put the store's basket over my arm and I found it easy enough to stear with one hand.

I have never put shopping directly into a shopping bag before paying, to me that looks suspicious!
