Just a word of warning regarding the evening meal. We booked this in October - although on the site it said that the kids would eat free at breakfast, it didn't say anything about if the kids would eat free in the evening. We turned up, expecting that as we had booked a room and eneving meal for 2 adults and 2 kids, that the kids meals were included - but we found that they had to be paid for on arrival. We hadn't budgeted for this, and to be honest I was so annoyed at this not being made clear, that I refused to pay for them.

Please, please tell me that this is a wind-up.

  • No, sorry it isn't! I had a blazing row about this with the staff there - who phoned customer service as well to confirm it - with the breakfast the kids eat free, but not with the evening meal.

May I ask where this is please?? we are looking for accomodation in June near Legoland

Hi its Bracknell Central, we have never been there before but looks ok. We just want a cheap one the night before so we wont all be tired when at Legoland. We have the second night as part of a Legoland holiday deal in a nicer hotel. x

We ended up either getting the starter or the main for the kids, and we would have the other course - so it didn't end up paying for it - but it wasn't such good value.

So it is worth budgeting approx £6 per child for a meal and a drink on top of what you have already paid. We went for 4 days, so this would have been another £48 on top of what we had already spent - more that the actual rooms cost!

Thank you, I thought that might be the case. We was considering eating in our room and sharing it as my daughter is only small and wouldnt eat a full meal anyway.

Has anyone stayed at Portsmouth? After a bit of research I discovered its over a pub, didnt say that in hte description. And the reviews are not good, it was only £10 but just hoping its clean and relatively quiet so we can get some sleep before hols on the IOW .

That's what we did - ate it in the room, and shared the two meals between four of us (kids are only 2 & 4).

We once stayed at a Travelodge that was mainly occupied by a some sort of dance troupe .
All of them had Pizza delivered there and many were on the steps outside munching .Every bin was full of discarded Pizza boxes .
I expect the local takeaways are used to delivering food to these places .

I'm sorry and maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I don't see why you would think that children's evening meals would be free if they advertised free children's breakfasts.

If they said 'free children's meals' then I would agree with you, but they don't.

I echo other recommendations for Edinburgh Cameron Tool. We've stayed there 3 times in the past year or so, as it's all pretty much brand new internally. Easy to get into the city center, free car park and very convenient. We got a £12.50 room there on New Years Eve - very happy with that one!! :)

Can you remember what sort of drinks you are allowed with you meals please? x
