Equifax Have Not Removed IVA from my File

Options
Hi All,

My IVA should of dropped off my credit file on 30th Jan 2012. I have checked with all 3 of the credit file agencies and found that the only one that is not correct is Equifax. They have moved my IVA listing from the public notice section into the Notice of Correction section. The notice states that the IVA was started on 30/1/06 (which is correct) and the file was updated as satisfied in April 2011. Also I had a loan with Northern Rock that was included in the IVA and that is still showing on my file with them eventhough the default date is correctly listed as 30/1/06. I have spoken to them and they told me to raise a dispute on their website which I have done. They say you have to give them 28 days but they havn't even acknowleged receiving my dispute. Do you think this kind of thing will be removed or are they likely to say they that I am incorrect and it has to stay on their longer. I am starting to doubt myself!

It should go after 6 years exactly. Equifax however have an annoying habit of letting them linger for a week or 2. It should go in the end though.

You have to give them 28 days to resolve a dispute, but that doesn't mean that it will stay for that long. Your complaint means it should come off within a week or 2, and hopefully sooner.

If it is on the insolvency register I don't know what you can do, it may be NR playing silly beggars.

I spoke to Northern Rock a while back because they had the default date listed months after my IVA started. I got them to change the default date to 30/1/06 and then waited until all the defaults and the IVA should of dropped off, then I ordered another Equifax report to make sure they have been removed. So Northern Rock (or NRAM as they are now called) have indeed changed their default date, I think it's just Equifax trying to make me sweat!

It will have nothing to do with the Insolvency Register or NR.

It's purely Equifax being bloody awkward. They do the same things with bankruptcies and defaults.

Your situation is very similar to mine - my IVA hits six years on 9 Feb '12 (so three days from now) - I raised a dispute with EQ as they did the same and moved my IVA from Court Info to NoC - as it was listed as being done by me they removed it pretty quick last week - took about a week from raising the dispute. Also, my IVA Court Info has vanished completely..but some of defaults dated to end on 30/01 are still there unlike Experian who removed them day after on the 31st..

Let me know how you get on and I'll do the same..
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.
  • Hi Giblet. I still havent heard anything back from Equifax. I logged the online dispute on 31/1/12 and followed it up with a letter on 2/2/12. Fingers crossed they are dealing with it as I am waiting to apply for a mortgage and the swines are holding me up! lol

Ah, now you are similar to me defo as I too am wanting a mortgage. Equifax will deal with it - they're not quick but it will be done - you can check progress on their customer service area on the website. FWIW, CallCredit went fully green this morning. Still haven't had those defaults drop off Equifax as yet - some expired on 30/01...

I'd be interested to know how you get on with mortgage..

Giblet - Equifax have done it! My file is all ship shape and looking beautiful. What a total relief. I will be speaking to the mortgage broker soon about the mortgage so I will let you know how I get on.
