    Good Morning All

(((Miffy))) you and your family are in my thoughts today, hope it goes as well as it can do.

Am really feeling the cold this morning, just about to jump in the shower so hope that warms me up. DW has been unloaded, WM has been loaded and kitchen wiped down. Need to get some chicken breasts out of the freezer, having chicken fajitas tonight and just waiting for Asda delivery which should be here in the next 10 minutes.

This morning will clean the bathrooms I think I get all the ironing done (only a few bits to do :j) new ironing board is much nicer but still doesnt make doing it anymore exciting :)

This afternoon have to go out with OH to pick a truck up, need to collect some donuts for the mechanics on the way - cant turn up their empty handed, actually will see if can find the time to make them some cakes this morning.

Thats it for today, have a good one and keep wrapped up.x

    morning!

freezing here too! poor DH is out in it on his milkround. He's wrapped up like the Michellin man:D and has got a flask and an insulated cup. He's lucky to have some lovely customers who invite him into the warm for a drink when its horrible outside:)

Still full of cold. Got the next 2 days off before working at the weekend so am hoping t be a bit better for then.

Have had a tidy up, mopped the floor.

Louie the naughty little doggie had pulled up a load of marley tiles in the kitchen so we need to do something about them.

(((hugs))) to Miffy - hope today goes well and is a lovely send off for your Mum x x x x

    Redruby - I love macaroni cheese :)

Jaxx - good luck at the hospital x

Hope everyone manages to keep warm.

    take care all x x

  • Morning all

    Thinking about you Miffy today.

Got my washing almost dry on the line yesterday. Lovely and sunny here again today but cold. I am hoping to miss the promised snow on Saturday as we are in the South West. OH wants to go to a train exhibition in Yate and It's always freezing when I walk around the shops there. So I will dig my thermals out. I bought them on a trip to Prague one year in January with DD.

Today there are lamb chops for tea from Lidl and I have some veg from Monday's trip to Aldi. OH will want roast potatoes I'm sure.

I have washing in the machine and off to find another cuppa and some breakfast.

    Have a warm day all.

:grouphug: Miffy, hope all goes as well as it can today.
Morning all, WM number 2 is on, have been up and down since 3am making hurried visits to the loo, had a bit of OHs pizza reheated when I came home from work, don't know if that was the culprit as there seems to be a nasty bug doing the rounds at work.
OH and DD have requested chilli for dinner, so will throw my behind in the shower in a mo and get to the shops for some veg, have run out of rice as well.
Later will iron a bit probably, although I could just curl up with my kindle! Hope you all have a good day!

    ¡Hola!

    :grouphug: Miffy :grouphug:

Well just to cheer you lot up, we awoke this morning to heavy rain. It has eased off a little now and so DH is power washing one of our outside walls, we have had tiles put on the top now to protect it, but the Saraha sand gets picked up there and dropped on us in the rain, so he is cleaning the old wall so it matches the new one, and if that fails we need some Exterior Magnolia Paint.

Last night I did the S&K in the SC with LO Mash, Runner Beans, Carrots and Cauli, from the Cottage Pie of the night before (always double cook veg, hang over from my working days), and just microwave it the second day, gets an easy quick tea. I omitted the Mash as back on the LC, so just had Bacon, Egg and Mushrooms for brekky. Did one airer full of ironing yesterday on the patio but today will be doing another one inside. Only showing 7.5C outside, still 17C inside but I feel the cold, so hopefully the ironing will do the trick, or else I will resort to the Wii Fit.:D

Sorry to hear about your feet LW, you can get something from the Drs which helps, and I know they sell it for not a lot in the chemists, must try to see if I have a jar out here to tellyou the name.

Tonight is the quiz and meal, so will have to try to find out what I can have from that which is LC.:o

Right better get my Bum in Gear! Take care all, ((hugs)) as needed. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Hope all goes peacefully for you miffy you are in my thoughts.
Freezing wind here in north Kent ,the sort that makes your eyes water even though the sun is out.
I whizzed up to the local business park last night with DD and treated my DGS Mikey to a new bedroom carpet as he is going into his own little room at the week-end.His big sister has moved out to be with her BF so a spare room is available. The next two up Jack and Henry don't want to split up (only 14 months between them) and the eldest boy Ben has his own room already.DD and her OH have decorated it with three walls in white and one wall in Ben 10 paper (his favourite cartoon character) so we got him a nice mid-blue carpet to match the paper and I also got him a duvet set with Ben 10 on it .So he is one very excited little boy.

I'm just about to make a big pot of coffee in my all-singing-dancing new coffee perculator. It was a snip at half price in Sainsbobs and I had £10.00 worth of Nectar points towards it as well so I am chuffed to bits.My old one finally gave up the ghost and I do like my coffee fix during the day.DD gave me a tin of 'posh stuff' from Harrods before Christmas as a little present for looking after the boys when her and OH went for an overnight trip to London. So I shall sit with my posh coffee and a slice of HM sultana and cherry cake shortly feeling like the bees knees.
I bought some dried peas as I have a Ham hock in the freezer which I want to get out and cook and I thought it will give me some tasty stock for ham and pea soup a real tummy warmer in the cold weather.Tesco's metro also has some pearl barley at 35p for 500 gms so I can see some thick chunky stews on the horizon.I like mine as thick as I can get it with lots of veg and pulses so a bowlful keeps you warm and toasty
Right I'm off for my coffee have a good day everyone and keep wrapped up warm Snow is forcast in the east and south this afternoon
    Cheers chums

  • Afternoon All,

Miffy you and your family are in my thoughts today.

Everyone sounds like they have been having delicious dinners. Unfortunately mine aren't quite as exciting. I just had pasta for dinner tonight.

My pipes are frozen, so I cant have a shower  So lets hope I dont look too much of a mess going into work tomorrow. As soon as I am finished I will be heading to a friends to take a shower there. I only realised they were frozen now, and at 10pm its far too late to be trudging round to a friends place.

Hope everyone has a good day, keep warm and take care.
  • Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say that I don't post very often but I do love to read this thread every day and it really inspires me and gives me great ideas and tips.

I am still early on in my old style money saving ways but I am learning! So far this week I have managed to:-

    1. contact a much cheaper hairdresser - this should cut my hair appt costs by about 50% hopefully

    2. contacted my cc company and set up an online account in order that I can make one off payments in addition to the direct debit payments (the card has been switched to repayment so I can no longer use it for purchases

    3. given up my daily bottle of diet coke - its 89p but adds up if you have one every day!

Anyway, the main reason for the post is to thank you all for your lovely tips of cheap and easy meal ideas, cleaning and tidying and generally keeping things under control!

    Good Afternoon x

Miffy - really hope your Mum's funeral went peacefully :A

I have made a cake with my son (who does Home Economics A Level) as he has a Great British Bake-Off this afternoon. I went through all my hints and tips (because I make a mean sponge cake) so hope he does ok:T

I have also been to see Mooloo - the first time in ages as I have been under the weather and she has been busy.

Yesterday I rescued a lovely black labrador who was running loose on the main road. It was a tricky operation but thankfully someone stopped as he pulled me over:eek::eek::eek: Anyway we got the dog in the car and i took him to the vets and he has now found his way home as thankfully he was microchipped. Kid's dad was worried about me but like I told him whilst there is breath in my body I will continue to help any living creature if it is in distress.

Hope you all have a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
