Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2nd February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Roll on half term, yesterday at work we had a power cut which knocked out the heating, 2 fights & overnight some local yobs decided to break 4 of our windows, we have them on CCTV & the police are now involved, they are not our pupils.
Piri Piri chicken for tea tonight.
Time I made another cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow.
Up early today - DH off to work. I really must get into gear as we have visitors this weekend to watch rugby and I'm volunteering this afternoon.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -
Morning Hester and all who follow! Feeling chirpy this morning in spite of the cold so let's see what the day brings. Nothing special about today - just another Thursday.
We've got jacket potatoes with melee beans for tea tonight and I'm hoping for a relaxing evening after. Will sit down with my notepad a bit later and get mealplanning - it's addictive! Another early start and then I can have a lay in though, so I'm kind of wishing it was Friday today.
I really fancy a tin of pop though - I must be good!
Have a good day everyone ((hugs))

Blimey Hester - where abouts in the country are you?! Hope you have a better day today.
Morning all - supposed to be cold outside according to yesterdays weather, but I'm not venturing out yet, and its still black so I can't see if there is ice. Have seen the yellow flashing lights of the gritter though.
Last night we had a lovely tea - pasta bake - from a jar, but it was yummy. Tonights tea will be special rice with prawns, cabbage and all sorts. Trying to use up the cupboards and the freezer. So will have ice cream, plum crumble, stewed apple and caramel for pudding - then people can choose what they'd like to have. My parents will probably come up at the weekend for feeding - they still don't have a working kitchen as Dad is putting a new one in. Thats their holiday this year!!! My house has now been scrubbed and cleaned to within an inch of its life and I'm really hoping that as I took some new photos that we'll get some viewings.
When the cold weather has passed I'll be starting on the garden. Fingers crossed it will bring in a lovely buyer - who buys at the full asking price (I know I'm dreaming!)Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Morning all,
Brrr even colder here today, and set to get colder still tomorrow, with a chance of snow
Last nights dinner was delish, macaroni cheese, with a breadcrumb and cheese topping, some chritzio sliced, and I fried mushrooms, onions garlic and tomotoes and had it on the side, was lovely and quite cheap, seeing as the meat was given to us :T
Tonight its something with chipsand I have my shopping being delivered Mr T is delivering today, not used them before, and I am having bag-less shopping, not sure how this will work, but got to be better for the environment.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Hester, we had a power cut at work yesterday but none of your other events! Hope you have a better day today.
It is really cold here but we don't have any frost, they are forecasting snow for saturday but I am sure they will change their minds before it gets here.
Tonight DD2 is going ice skating with the guides so she needs an early tea (left over chilli from last night) but other than that it is quite quiet, which is all for the better as I feel that I am going down with the lurgy, the back of my nose and throat is really scratchy and I can't stop sneezing.
Welcome back Shalva.
Hugs to all in need especially Molly, Miffy, MrsMix, LW, Beth and Lou.
Look after yourself until the bruises are better JackieO.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning Everyone x
I have been up since 2.30am! Darling Eliza decided to cluster feed and fall asleep at 5am just as I had to get up with DH!!! Her routine is out because of the medication... but she's had her last dose an hour ago
She is sooooooo much better, much more alert and feeding much better too, hopefully she will now gain the weight she's supposed to but hasn't!
Today is an easier day, Just two loaves to make (first one went on at 4.30am), no washing, but I do need to shower and tidy the house. I have the PM school run.
Tomorrow after the morning school Eliza and I are going to Baby Time at the Sure Start Center, i'm quite looking forward to it, even if it is a LONG walk from the school
Not much else going on here, hope you all have a good day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull, chilly and overcast here this morning. DH up and has had brekkie, but will be taking it steady today. Boys now getting ready to go to school. Dinner last night was chicken casserole and dumplings, mash, carrots, broccolli, green beans and peas, no-one had room for dessert. Made a loaf of bread yesterday afternoon and the boys have eaten some of that for brekkie this morning. I'm now on days off and have a washing mountain, so that's the main job for today, washing, drying and ironing - but also need to pop out first thing as haven't got any tomatoes or cheese and need both today and haven't got anything that I could use instead - so will go early and get back quickly so I can crack on with the jobs. Dinner tonight will be spag bol, and HM bread if anyone wants some. I've managed to get a home delivery slot booked for tomorrow afternoon as plumbers are booked to come in the morning to fit new taps to bath and bathroom sink and replace my kitchen tap and service the boiler so I need to be at home instead of doing the usual Friday morning food shop.
Haven't really been doing my usual baking/cooking sessions so tins look a bit empty - really need to get this addressed - so will see how I go today and tomorrow - if plumbers come at a reasonable time tomorrow I may get a couple of hours in the middle of the day to be able to fit some baking time in. Have noticed how much extra I've spent because not been doing it!
Really need to get into gear.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all
FFFFreezing here this am boiler is on we cant leave it on as there is a problem with it but we really need a new one but that isnt going to happen anytime soon so we keep nursing it through
Dog will be walked in a bit then need to sort washing and put on and off to work loads of cuts at the moment which is making life a bit tough for us and making us a bit unpopular with patients but at least we have a job
Remember to check on your golden oldies as the weather gets colder
Have a good day and stay warm0 -
Freezing here this morning but now sun seems to be coming out. Will be an emotional day today as it's Mum's funeral, looking forward to seeing all my family though. My DD has decided to do a reading as well so I'm very proud of her, going to Uni has really boosted her self confidence. DD's lovely BF is at our house so he will look after the dog for us today.
Thank-you to everyone on here for all your support, messages and virtual hugs.
Hope everyone has a good day and keep warm. Hugs to all who need /want them.£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.
