Agreed but there are always two sides to a story.

And what if three people are involved in the dispute? Then surely there would be three sides to the story. Come on, keep up Keystone, you are not on form today. :D

    Don't hold your breath.

i'd be thrilled if I was the copper who had to deal with this. What a waste of their time...

A joiner makes doors, windows, staircases etc and an example of a very skilled joiner is one who is called a cabinet maker. A chippy is not the same animal as a joiner.

I wouldn't mind an orthopeadic surgeon helping me mend a broken fence but I'm damned if I'd allow a fencer to help him fix my busted leg.

Anyways this bloke wasn't even a half decent handyman by all accounts.

    Cheers

Not up North its not.... thats a bench hand joiner.. Its not more skilled just a different job. Someone who fits doors, skirting, roofs etc is classed as a joiner up here..
I have found they are both useless at doing each others jobs.

Oh really waste of their time??? And what if he was a nutter and had come back and done something worse. he knowing I live alone etc.

How many times have I read of people with grudge who have reported harrassment from an ex or ex family or friend many times to the police and then that person who reported it has been murdered or attacked???

If i had not reported the threat in the first place and he had continued harrassing me, the police would have said, why didnt you tell us the first time it happened?

Besides that they are there to protect the community and thats what we pay for.

If he threatened you and you were worried, i don't blame you for reporting him to the police.. As you say thats what they are for..

In my opinion both parties seem to be guilty of poor communication. You did so keystone...
Which is entirely not the same as bad communication which you suggested is what I wrote. The poor communication (in my opinion) occured during a conversation which was allowed to degenerate into a "you've made an enemy" statement and it takes two to tango.
and capital letters does not mean shouting
Well I'm sorry but in internet speak yes it does. Clicky.
    .
Why would I want to lie about something ?
Indeed why would you and didn't suggest you did.
There was no bad communication from me at all. We both agreed at £60 including cost of door.
Thats not what I am talking about nor is it in dispute.

    Cheers

    john....
and in the USA they don't use the word joiner - everyone is a carpenter. So?

Of course but in this case its only two. I was only reprising my first contrbution to this thread in a sort of backhanded not-so-subtle perhaps sort of way.

Maybe as you you said this ,
Thank you for the way you expressed the word 'joiner'. This is not a joinery task - its basic carpentry so why are peeps on this thread using the word joiner. Thats a far more skilled job and demands a higher price commensurate with skill and knowledge.

Also why would a bench hand joiner be paid more?? they are normally on a lot less money..
