I am livid because I gave orange my bank details to claim the DD and they never did by the time I found out there were 4 months due which I just thought they had too many new accounts and it being christmas there was a delay in set up.
They never wrote or phoned to say there was a problem. so I phoned end Jan to say I need to pay them and checked the bank acc number which the person read out and it was correct.
Today I called to say why havent you taken the DD, this person read out the bank details they had on file and low and behold a digit is wrong. I then find they have placed a late payment on my credit file affecting my rating and it will stay there for 6 years.
before this I had an excellent credit rating its now Low despite that I have other credit which is paid on time.
what can I do to amend my credit rating.

Shocking customer service!! How difficult would it have been for them to call you and ask why the money was being declined. Surely they can't sit back and do nothing for four months.
Why wasn't the phone cut off?
Very strange.0 -
I get all their advertising stuff sent to me but nothing else and I never miss any other payments I even pay my CC in full each month.
just need to know what action I need to get them to do to help clear this. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

It would be as a gesture only, but when ever orange sets a dd up for me they said confirmation through the post. One late marker shouldnt have a big impact on your fileDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Is it a new contract?
How did you give them your bank details? did you do it by phone? fill in a form?
Have you been receiving bills for the 4months? did they not show that there was an arrears balance building up?
Have they issued a default? or 3 or 4 missed payment markers?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
never had confirmation in post about DD set up, never had any bills sent, they never phoned.
I missed 4 months of payments because I thought they were just slow setting it up and tried to log online to see my account but forgot passwaord and then when I could not reset it I emailed them, eventually phoned but by then the deed was done I think at this point they are just missed payments markers but until I get my report from experian I am not sure.
I have requested my credit report paying £2 but still waiting for the confirmation email.
when I rang today they said they were going to disconnect at end of month because the jan payment was due but I again was waiting for them to collect DD. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

If the DD details were done on a form (such as in a phone shop) do you have a copy of the form and does it show you gave them the correct details?
Once you've found out what is on file I'd try writing to them to see if they will agree to remove it. Certainly if you have something like the form, but even if you don't stating that had they contacted you would have given them the correct details or paid the full amount straight away - and hopefully they'll consider it.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
when I spoke to Jess an orange she said the marker would remain on my file for 6 years!!!!!
she said she would send all the information I gave her through the department that contacts the reference agencies and they will decide what they are prepared to do.
today I said I have called to pay for jan because they had not taken it and I did pay all the others in one go and did tell them they had not contacted me
I am going to look at the complaints procedure and follow that:cool: Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

Sounds like paperless billing, and contract dd details entered onlineDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

What has this got to do with credit cards unless it is the Orange/Barclaycard Partnership credit card?
People seem to just put anything in this forum as it's the first on the list.0
