Saw this last night to a 90% full screening.
I wasn't expecting much, so was completely taken by surprise - what a fascinating film.
Emma Thompson was .......... simply sublime.
Don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

Tom Hanks was much better than I expected from the reviews, so overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening out for this old bag!

Heads up for anyone yet to see this little gem - don't rush out at the end.
Definitely made me want to find and read the original book/s, and to do more research on the author.
She sounds an absolute gold plated 'original'.
Fantastic that such original records exist - talk about an irreplaceable record of social/film making history.
Those tapes must be worth their weight in gold.
  • Was original footage used in the film then somewhere please? I don't remember seeing any except a clip from MP.

During the credits they show a selection of original photos then play a recording of one of the production meetings so that you can see how particular Mrs Travers actually was.
  • Right, I did watch some of the credits but obviously not enough, thanks x

Will wait until Sky show it and watch again as it was a good film.

Well clever clogs. nbgrobbo Personally, I couldn't care less about most of the rules on this forum (exchanging details, swapping tickets etc) however, the referral rule is one that I do agree with.

The person who posted the referral link was being sneaky in not mentioning that they too get a free month for each person that uses it.

The referral board is there for people to do just that.

Does Ipswich come up often as a venue (non-sky/times) for screenings?
