As can be so well demonstrated by a preview screening I went to about 7 years ago
I saw BABEL, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, with just 2 other people
The cinema could have held about 400 people but there were just 3 of us ....
... and the other two, a couple of twenty-something girls had not originally even booked the tickets themselves :rotfl:
One of them was the sister of the person who had got the 2 tickets from SFF, and had been given them only a few hours earlier when her sister couldn't actually make it to the screening herself.
If that hadn't have happened I'd have been there ALL ON MY LONESOME

I arrived at my cinema around 5.30 and there were already people in the queue. By 6.00 the screen was already pretty much full. You want to try to arrive more than half an hour before the film starts, closer to an hour for popular films like IMAX screenings.
Ive never seen a 3D film and didnt know that this was in 3D, it didnt say on the tickets (or the Metro site when I booked).
I was at work til 5 (about 35 miles away from this cinema) and came straight there but the traffic on Glasgows motorways was dead slow and stop. I was really disappointed and would not do a Metro screening again. I have seen maybe 10 other free screenings over the last 2 years and have never had a problem getting in, they are normally 50%-70% full.Money is only of any use if you can spend it!:cool:0 -

I have to agree with numbers there. I've never been to a full screening ever. Saw Philomena tonight and it was the fullest yet at about 90%. Turned up as usual at 6:20 for 6:30 show.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Saw Philomena tonight, screen close to full, very good film.
Was meant to be a cheap night out, bus either way (both I & Mum have pre paid bus tickets), bag of chips on walk home from bus stop.
Roads surrounding Cinema were shut due a burst water main a couple of hours before the film was due to start and buses quickly running up to 1 hour behind so we taxied there & back, and had KFC before coming home as we weren't going to be passing chip shop.
My first film preview a good experience, no ads or trailers before the film and cinema staff couldn't have been nicer.
Coped ok health wise film was around 90 minutes think I would struggle with anything longer. But am happy to give a longer film a try for another free preview of course0 -

It had nothing to do with it being a Metro screening. When Le Mis was showing earlier in the year people were turned away in droves because it was so popular, that was advertised in the Mail on Sunday. If a movie is popular lots of people will turn up and there are going to be people turned away. This film was a 3D IMAX screening, the first IMAX screening i've ever seen advertised, it was always going to be popular.0 -

Was the Norwich screening tonight in IMAX 3D? I saw the one yesterday and really enjoyed Gravity. Good special effects and a tense film at times.0 -
Yes it was, trouble was the film was so good apparently that I let them go again so unless I pay I'll have to wait til it's on Sky to see it in 3d lol!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

FYI
I was told last night that cinemas have been told to put a stop to allowing people in to see previews if they turn up without tickets.
So even if someone has an unused +1, they have instructions not to allow someone else in which seems very unfair to me.
Not sure how many will adhere to this but posted as a warning just in case.0 -
Had tickets but was told it was full when we arrived (before the start). Really annoyed as the time and effort to cross Glasgow at peak traffic time is something I would totally avoid in normal circumstances!
To be fair the Manager offered to let us see anything else but there was nothing we fancied so went to Asda instead.
He said it was oversubscribed, I have attended many previews and they are never more than 70% full. Surely the point of offering tickets is that there are only as many as there are seats?
I know they are free but I wouldnt have bothered if I knew we might not get in.
My friends were turned away from Liverpool ONE last night even though I had seats for them. They did go to see another film. Apparently, several were turned away last night.0 -

Metro screenings are usually full or near capacity.0
