I'm off to see We bought a Zoo tonight in Cardiff Vue. Have been to two free screenings now but they were in Cine world. It's a 6.30 start. Is 6 OK to get there for, or should i get here earlier?
I'd be struggling to get there much earlier TBH
Also, going to take my phone this time. Do they normally check in Vue cinemas? Same for snacks, we will as always take our own:)
    Thanks for any info.

I normally get to my local one at about 6, earlier if I can
Sometimes they check for phones, but just advise to turn them off
I always take snacks with me, the security guards aren't bothered tho. The cinema staff might be

    Guys,

Its been bought to my attention that there is a lot of off topic bickering on here which will just lead to the forum team locking the thread which will spoil it for a lot of you that enjoy using this thread.

Please try and be nice to each other and keep on topic.

Finally got made into a BG :T:T:beer::j

    Anyway.......
Saw I bought a Zoo yesterday - which was OK. About what I expected.
But I just could not really accept Matt Damons character.
Love him in Bourne, his character in the Ocean series irritates me (perhaps that means he is a good actor) and watched Good Will Hunting again recently which I loved....... but just couldn't come to grips with his floppy haired character in The Zoo !!
I have tickets for 21 Jump Street tonight, and Contraband tomorrow - so feeling a bit spoilt.
  • We thought We Bought a Zoo was absolutely superb, and were in tears at several points as it's deeply and profoundly moving, and the way it dealt with loss, from both Damon's and the kids points of view was superb. The scene where father and son shouted at each other was just gobsmackingly good, and if it's not up for some Oscars next year I'll eat my hat. The child actors were all fantastic.

It also has a breathtakingly beautiful score by Sigur Ros man Jonsi and as usual for Cameron Crowe's film, the song choice is also excellent.

We noticed in the credits that the real Benjamin Mee and family had a cameo as zoo visitors but we didn't spot which they were...
  • Just joined and was a little over-whelmed...looks much friendler now! Thanks :j
  • Saw the Zoo movie on Saturday, liked it (especially the hand holding scene). But what a shame they (a) changed the story so much when the actual story is so good; and (b) did not make it in the UK. We have a quirkiness that really suits this kind of tale.

I have just done a Google on this - so thanks for the information.
I did spot in the credits that the Real Zoo was the Dartmoor Zoological Park, and for some reason assumed there was a zoo in the US with that name...... you know what they are like for borrowing our town/city names !!
Agree that it would have been a great film if actually shot/based in the UK - although I suppose it is down to who had the bucks.

Ooh I'm so tempted to go in and do a loud schoolmarm 'SHUSH!' to the codes thread. :D

But that would defeat the object of me shushing. It does drive me a bit nuts though to see all the useless chatter.

On the plus side this thread has made me decide to buy the kindle book of We Bought a Zoo so cheers for that, I also thought by the title it sounded like a kiddy film but the discussion surrounding it has got me intrigued. So ta!
