Cinema Only Free Tickets Discussion thread

I have never once said that I am not interested in posts related to new tickets for old codes.
I help a lot of people to get tickets so I sometimes do need to know this information. Please do not assume anything about me!
The point is where the information is posted.
Keeping the thread clutter free is the main priority and is helpful to all and actually makes it far easier to check a code for a film that you might want tickets to.
How does one know that there are multiple tickets available for any location? It might be that a few cinemas show availability but that they are returns, possibly two or three tickets at most. That's not worth alerting thousands of people. Don't forget that this is not the only forum where this information is posted and if people are determined to get a ticket after missing the first release, they will check for themselves.
The codes only thread is to let people know that a particular film is being shown for free on a particular date and to tell you how to claim a ticket.
Strictly speaking, all that is needed is the name of the film, the date, the media partner and the pin/code or password if necessary.
However, it is not unusual for the following to happen -
A newbie will post the name of the film and date and the SFF pin but can't post a link .
Second post is a direct link (unnecessary)
Third post is the list of cinemas (unnecessary)
Fourth post is someone who puts all of the above into one post (totally unnecessary)
Often in between some of these posts we get chat!
But quite often someone will tell us that all tickets are gone (completely and totally unnecessary)
Then we get the "more tickets available" post. (no comment)
After this we get the even less helpful "all tickets are gone" or even worse, someone saying the code doesn't work!
All this will be followed by one or two posts telling us all that no chat is allowed. And usually followed by a Troll who thinks it is clever to chat just for the hell of it.
This is all for one code! At this point we are halfway through one page and if, which is quite usual these days, there is a second or subsequent code, we could fill two pages on the No chat thread with one film and often there are two or more films live at any one time.
All this has happened in the past and we end up with a handful of pages for two or three films/codes and I haven't even mentioned the duplicated codes posted because people can't see through the clutter or use the search facility or make a mistake when entering the code into the search facility.
Let's not forget the even less helpful posts telling us that they have returned/cancelled two tickets for X film at Y cinema!
So whilst you don't think my post about letting the thread disintegrate into chaos is constructive, it might well be a good way of letting you all see how bad the thread can be and used to be in the past.
You are far too naive if you think that all we will get on the No Chat thread is one of two post telling us that hundreds of tickets are now available for a film without most if not all, of the above.
We get people who get all huffy because chat has been deleted and post it again! We get people posting asking why one kind of post telling us about availability is allowed but theirs wasn't. Why should a Board Guide have to spend their time continually deleting post and explaining why whilst justifying why some are allowed?
Keeping it clean and uncluttered and simple is really the best way. This is experience talking.
Other than Sky, most agencies do not release a huge amount of tickets on the same code anyway. Usually although not always, they issue a new code instead. So there will be a new alert for tickets when that code is posted.
And to address this point of "I don't have Sky/Virgin etc" so they should be in a separate thread, that's a load of rubbish. Personally, I don't care if a film is showed solely in Scotland or London but I'm not advocating that they shouldn't be on the cinema code thread. If we went down that route we'd end up with a thread for every town in the nation and several media partner threads too. Utterly ridiculous. The connection is that not all posts are useful to all subscribers of the thread. I'm not interested in posts for Sky or Virgin customers but am not suggesting that they should not be included in the codes only thread. You are not interested in posts relating to new tickets for old codes whereas other subscribers clearly are. The difference is that you are in favour of vetoing these posts despite other people clearly stating that they find them useful. Frankly, your post about letting the thread descend into chaos is not very constructive. The majority of users do appreciate Sarah's hard work regardless of whether their views on the preferred content happen to be the same as yours.0 -
could we not just have a alternative thread just for more seats available posts ? make that again a no chat thread and everything will be sorted ? or am i missing something0

So, for a second time, you've posted a chat post on a no-chat thread. And then you complain about other's chatting?
Are you insane ?
Posts made by the (NEVER complaining) BOARD GUIDE about the smooth running and possible slight change of use of the Cinema tickets threads

Why is it that whenever I check this thread, there are always people arguing?0

It would never work. We have a thread for codes for shows and concerts yet the same people constantly post those on cinema codes thread.
Some would also complain that they would have to subscribe to yet another thread and you would also get people chatting and posting original codes on it too.0 -
Enough said - the poll results speak for themselves. :j0

Sadly the majority of those that have "spoke" haven't got a clue what they are likely to be letting themselves in for and will rarely benefit from what they are, or think they are, voting for.

Rather a presumptious and condescending statement unless you have personal knowledge of the 164 users that have voted for the codes only thread to be used. You seem to be forgetting that it is already a regular occurrence for posts re new tickets released for old codes to be included on the codes only thread, so I can't really see what we're 'letting ourselves in for' by voting for this to continue.Sadly the majority of those that have "spoke" haven't got a clue what they are likely to be letting themselves in for and will rarely benefit from what they are, or think they are, voting for.0

It's only been a regular occurrence for posts re new tickets for old codes for a couple of days because before that they were deleted so quoia is quite right when she says that some people dont know what they are letting themselves in for.
Unfortunately the codes thread will become like it used to be, pages and pages of duplicated information.
People have voted though so I can only do what the majority want.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
