Cinema Only Free Tickets Discussion thread

Personally, I think Sarah should just do what other Board Guides have done in the past and left the Codes Only thread to degenerate into utter chaos as we had in years gone by.
Why should she waste her time actually keeping the thread in order when it isn't appreciated.
It's no wonder that so many regulars migrated to other sites to get their codes.0 -
Equally, others are actually discerning in which posts they thank. 9 thank yous to sarah1972's original post asking people not to use the codes only threads for new tickets on old codes as opposed to 31 thank yous for blondie7's disagreement speaks volumes imho. What you refer to as initiative is fine providing that everybody has an equal amount of time on their hands. Others of us that do not have the time to read (and contribute to) multiple threads, depend on the codes only thread to alert us to new tickets regardless of whether it is a new or old code. There has previously been the argument of whether Sky/Virgin/Telegraph subscriber only tickets should be posted as the information is only helpful to a specific group of users - we've established that flagging new tickets for old codes is useful for some of us so surely this is no different.
How are these two subjects even connected??
Free cinema tickets means exactly what it says, the cinema tickets are free. The fact that you might have to buy a newspaper, a magazine, or subscribe to Sky or Virgin or even be a customer of a particular bank doesn't make the tickets any less free. Most tickets are a reward of some kind for the customers of the media partner.0 -
The connection is that not all posts are useful to all subscribers of the thread. I'm not interested in posts for Sky or Virgin customers but am not suggesting that they should not be included in the codes only thread. You are not interested in posts relating to new tickets for old codes whereas other subscribers clearly are. The difference is that you are in favour of vetoing these posts despite other people clearly stating that they find them useful. Frankly, your post about letting the thread descend into chaos is not very constructive. The majority of users do appreciate Sarah's hard work regardless of whether their views on the preferred content happen to be the same as yours. How are these two subjects even connected??

I think it's really simple. New tickets (regardless of code) = codes thread. That's what it's there for.
Pointless updates on known tickets / tickets run out etc. = chat.
Just because some of you have the time or inclination to keep checking pages (which is fine) doesn't mean the rest of us do. And yes, occasionally we'll get irrelevant posts. That doesn't mean it's not worth doing overall. Nothing is perfect.
And Sarah I agree, the poll is skewed as code-thread only subscribers don't know about it (despite that, posting-on-codes is ahead right now).
Keep up the good work posters (signing out of the chat thread :A).
(oops, see the discussion moved to the poll thread, sorry).
I take your point so I have posted a link to the poll on the codes only thread aswell so everyone gets to see it.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. There really needs to be a 'Downvote' button on this site.
On this occasion it is necessary for that _relevant_ chat to be posted on the codes only thread. As stated more than once, the people who only subscribe to the codes only thread need to be informed about the vote, otherwise it is an unfair vote. So, for a second time, you've posted a chat post on a no-chat thread. And then you complain about other's chatting?0 -
Hi guys,
Anyone have any idea when/if there'll be advance screenings for The Hobbit? It's not long to go and my Son is as desperate as i am to watch it.
Thanks.0 -

I dont complain others chatting, I get complaints about people chatting.
The poll has to go on the codes thread otherwise subscribers wont see it so it wont be a fair decision when one is made.
Hope that clears it up for you :cool:I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
