If we are going to be subjected to this kind of condescending sh*t from now on, then I for one am going to be finding a new website to use.

I highly recommend www.fmuk.org.uk/forum as its a site devoted to keeping the free films topic very easy to navigate. There's even a topic in the discussion forum devoted entirely to "more tickets available" comments - thats the only place they're allowed.
Also, any details about upcoming screenings go into the discussion thread for that movie, and if there isn't a thread for that movie you just create one.
Here, you're not allowed to swap tickets, there there's Swap Central. Guess what you can do there.
Yes, FMUK is organised to be the best place to find codes and we just want one thing from you - participate in the forum, don't lurk.

Very constructive to post what was an overwhelming majority of "No tickets left" codes

And there was me thinking we were looking at the bigger picture and being considerate of those without tickets.

    Silly me.

I've received the emails from MSE for years but only joined the forum this year.
FMUK is a good site for codes and there seems to be no prima donnas on there, as there are on here!!

There's no thanks button on FMUK, only a thanks thread. It's amazing how political the simple concept of thanking someone has become! If they took away the thanks button, I think people would actually get on better on this site.

Re MSE, I like the existing system of having one thread for codes without any chat, with everything else going into one thread. It's never worked perfectly and never will, not without a lot more BGs to help out, but it's the best of a bad bunch.

To all the angry people, stop subscribing for notifications and just check the codes thread regularly. Or, try looking on FMUK instead. It's a moderated site, so gets more care and attention.

FWIW, I think it's great that sarah1972 gives up her time to help MSE, especially given the barrage of abuse she's got from some posters over the years, but Freebies is such a high traffic board, you need a lot more people to help out. Whenever one BG goes quiet, it takes such a long time before the MSE team even consider appointing another one. It's not really fair on poor sarah1972 that's she's taking the flak for this by herself!
  • Rather a strange turnaround for someone that has spent the last umpteen posts vehemently insisting that the codes only thread should include absolutely nothing but new codes. Do the rules change when the post is made by your mutual admirer? You've also recently posted that a large number of users hit the Thanks button indiscriminately and the number of thanks means nothing. Can you therefore qualify your statement that 12 other people found the post helpful, as clearly you can't have based this finding on the number of thanks received, given your views on how meaningless this criteria is.

For the record, I don't think it is the content of quoia's post that anyone objects to - as someone with a more flexible view on what should be allowed, I agree that it was probably helpful to some users. It's the unfortunate smug, condescending tone of the post that has obviously rubbed some people up the wrong way.

Don't worry, Quoia and I have had our run ins in the past but it greatly amused me and my comment about the thanks button had more than a hint of sarcasm about it.
