Not sure if this is the right place, but I need help picking a laptop

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1520, I've had it for two years. The battery is knackered, the power cable just popped out and the battery lasted 3 seconds, no joke. Plus it runs really slowly despite having had many a clearout and MOT from laptop specialists. Time for a new one!
I was leaning towards getting an ipad2, but I don't travel enough to warrant paying for it's size and transportability. Plus I want a CD/DVD drive, and not interested in a tablet
Here's what I'm looking for:
My budget is under £400
Hope you can help!!
I was leaning towards getting an ipad2, but I don't travel enough to warrant paying for it's size and transportability. Plus I want a CD/DVD drive, and not interested in a tablet
Here's what I'm looking for:
- As small as possible whilst still having a CD/DVD drive
- Preferably not another Dell, as I'm not a huge fan
- A large hard drive or capacity for plenty memory as I want to be able to back up all my photos, videos, music and DVDs
- DVD RW drive (forgot to say that)
- A camera
- Wireless, naturally so I can connect to my home hub
My budget is under £400
Hope you can help!!

General problem with small form factor laptops/notebooks with the sort of spec you want tend to be over £400., (maybe someone may know of one or two, but there aten't many, if any)0 -
Fantastic, thanks for the link! Is it a reliable make?0

Lenovo (ex IBM) are one of the better ones................
PS The good thing about Amazon is that they are very good with dealing with any problem, so if you don't like it, no problem.0 -

i'm thinking of getting for my gf0 -
a new battery would be cheaper.
if it wasn't slow when you bought it, it could be just as fast now - backup, reinstall windows from factory restore partition.!!

Indeed a new 9 Cell battery would cost less than £30. 6 Cell around £20.
As the the 'laptop specialists', who knows what they have done?0 -
This seems an excellent buy (courtesy of HUDK)

Maybe if you like HP!!!
Secondly if you read the original OP's requirement they wanted a small screen - not the standard 15.6" that this one has.
Maybe of interest to someone else?0 -
If I were you I'd get a new battery and new charger and wait for Windows 8 to come out. Its' supposed to be this year.Hi.
