Your average customer doesn't care about these things especially those with kids or pets.

    It's a carpet fgs.

No wonder some companies go down the tubes, they don't understand their customers needs.

What you don't get is that a lot of people are quite happy with the service/price from carpetright. Do you think people don't shop around are and think people are enticed in with the big sales signs?

I've compared them with local independent retailers and quite frankly not prepared to pay the expensive prices quoted by the independents. I care not one jot what the list price is claimed to be. I want a cheap and cheerful carpet - after all it's just for walking on.

Muppet!! you have no clue, just because you like loss leaders its ok then.. nobody else matters.. you cannot compare loss leaders with independants most independants dont mass buy & stock.. but also don't lie about quality or market value!

The only time carpet right are ever really cheaper than independants is on roll stock up to £5.99m2 ... then if you add on the £29 delivery charge it becomes £6.99m2 - £8.50m2 depending on size of carpet, the £5.99m2 is to get you in the door, the delivery charge brings it up to the price it really is, seriously an average room is 16m2 .. thats just under an extra £2m2 on top of the price, which you aren't told until the quote is worked out... its not advertised in their sale prices!

If the big bling tv ads & sales signs don't work why do you think they use them?? of course they entice people in thats what they are designed to do.... create a compelling reaction!

The real reason behind your post comes out at last......

... and you still haven't answered the question.

You're coming across as a bitter competitor, and the longer you go without answering the question, the more people will assume you are promoting your own agenda with this thread.

My agenda is the truth & for people to be educated & aware in order for them to make a fully informed choice!!! That is what this site was set up by Martin for... i'm interested to know what you are on the site for?

Their pricing structure is quite clear and appears perfectly legal.

Agreed! It is the fact their list prices are on average double what the rest of the uk market considers the product to be worth that creates the illusion to the consumer. leading to a manipulation of the consumers value of the product!
    General prohibition
10.2 The general prohibition is made up of two tests. It prohibits
    practices that:

    • contravene
    the requirements of professional diligence
    and
    • materially distort the economic behaviour of the
    average
consumer with regard to the product
    (or are likely to).
10.3 The first test is concerned with the conduct itself – that is the
standards of the trader’s practice. The second is concerned
with the actual or likely effect the practice has on the average
    consumer’s economic behaviour.

Again you are making the assumption that people are not educated and ill informed. And were you never told that if you have to resort to insults then you have already lost the argument.

    Bottom line.....nothing illegal.

You are such an uneducated numpty its untrue... get a life & learn something... you know nothing about carpets... those things directly relate to all customers, especially ones with kids or pets, as they are related to longevity, durability & stain resistance.... i suggest you stop making such a fool of yourself & go to bed & sleep it off! :rotfl:

Seriously, if you are typical of the independant carpet retailers in this country then no wonder you have trouble selling stuff with an attitude like that.

Where does one learn about carpets - tw at academy?

Mobile phones these days don't seem to be built to last. I know people who have had iPhones costing £400ish last as little as 2 years, I also have relatives still using Nokia 3310 and have been using for many years costing a fraction of the price. So how do the likes of Apple justify over-inflated prices on products of inferior quality?
Do you have the answers to these questions?

It was a rhetorical question. I was making a point.
