A carpet with an average value across the industry of £10m2 is valued by Carpetright at £20m2 then say reduced to £9.99m2 ... the customer is still buying a product they believe is worth twice that... therefore they are being conned into buying an inferior product than they are led to believe it is!! They save nothing, carpetright gets the custom, the customer has to replace the carpet much earlier than they would expect, customer loses!
Who determines how much a carpet is 'worth'?
Surely with CR selling their carpets at inflated prices, it means competitors can compete easier with the big boys who benefit more from economies of scale?SIMPLE!!!You cannot agree as you have no idea of carpet quality & value of each product.. which i do! Just accept the education & allow yourself to be enlightened, you will be better equipped for it!
I guess I should be thanking you then for sharing you wisdom with us -- still not entirely sure what you have taught us today though :huh:0 -
jumpinjackflash wrote: »????? read the post! The customer believes they are getting it for less than half its value not me lol! You have just realised what i'm saying as it would be absurd to think they would sell at less than half the value wouldn't it.... how can any retailer offer 70% off or less than half price without making a loss?
Ok there was a typo it should have said "If you actually believe they (the customer) think they are getting it half price or 70% off you are seriously wrong"
Selective reading again though
My last feed of the troll.......0 -

Erm.. Carpetright... since their markup is "200-600%[..]on carpets" " & 800-1200% on underlay & accessories" :rotfl:0 -

OP - your carpet business is obviously going down the tubes, and you're doing all you can to steer people away from your main competitor. It's all a bit sad really, and a pity you still hide behind the veneer of trying to "educate" us all as to why we shouldn't shop at Carpetright.
You never did tell us which carpet business you own/work for, did you?0 -
Op - maybe get in touch with DFS head office also, their sales never seem to end..0

So if this example is typical of what happens that would mean that carpetright are selling them at what everybody else should be anyway. In my experience everybody else is way more expensive.
That is exactly what they are doing & i can tell you the FACT is that when Carpetright add all the extras on top, underlay, gripper, fitting, fake delivery charges etc. etc they are one of the most expensive carpet retailers in the country.
Example:
"Athens Berber Brown"
Our list price: £23.99 per M2 Was £11.99 per M2 Now £9.59 per M2 (from CR website)
Most retailers call this "Harvest", it ranges on average from £6.99m2 - £12-99m2 across the country depending on the retailer.
I could do a full list but their prices reflect like this across the board so no point really .. look for yourselves!
Beware they change the names of products to prevent price comparison!! :T Clever carpet right!
Underlay 8mm0 -
Ah the truth is finally revealed "Our list price".
I for one have never found a cheaper all round package than Carpetright and will continue to go there in future and not because I think I am getting a carpet at 30% of it's true value.
Perhaps it's the fact you believe we are all thickos that we don't shop with you. Give your potential customers some credit.0 -

okay..
Oh right... dont I?

A, the market & the quality!
B, Yes
C, No!! (how is a carpet made? which yarns are more expensive? what is maclon? how is wool content accurately measured? Which is the best wool? Which wears better, polypropylene or nylon? What prevents colour fading? Why is latex content important?)
Do you have the answers to these questions?0 -
Their pricing structure is quite clear and appears perfectly legal.CARPETRIGHT
Our List Price
This is our standard list price for the product. All products have been sold at this list price for a minimum of 28 days within the previous six months. Where this price has not applied in the previous 28 days, the dates when this price last applied will be clearly shown.
We may occassionally show a discount from the Our List price. If an additional discount is applied then a "Was" price may also be shown. The "Was" price will be the last selling price before the additional discount was applied
