I just made the Onion and Potato soup from Cheap Family Recipes for lunch (and for lunch Tue, Wed, Thu too!)

Followed the recipe except for the amount of water which was ridiculously large. I used more like 1.2 litres and I would have preferred it a little thicker than that so next time will try 1 litre.

  • Went to shops this morning to buy stuff for DD's sleepover tomorrow - just bought @sda pizzas, potato wedges and some small pots of Ben & Jerrys ice cream for them.
Got bit carried away popping into Wilkins** and Holland & B also Julian Graves to buy ingredients for the Nigella breakfast bars. Will tot up all receipts later but Know I have blown the budget (could cheat & put pizzas etc on entertainment budget, after all it is half term!!) but Prob bending the rules a little too much there.

If anyone is interest Julian Graves have a 25% discount stock clearance from 15th-28th Feb applies to all their stores - surplus stock prob not with huge bbf dates on. Was chatting to the lady in my local store and she said it's because of surplus stock and they are not even allowed to give it away to charities if the bbf date has gone and it all ends up being thrown away - Seems such a waste when so many people are struggling.

Afternon all have blew this weeks budget that starts on weds placed a mr t order for £71.08 :eek: but it did include some bulk buys so will take that money out of the purse (have real difficulty doing this for some reason even though thats what it is for :D) got soap powder, sugar (5kg) rice (5kg) coffee (so thats £21 out of the purse) and there is more i think, ended up buying the small tins of pasta shapes for the kids (10 for £4  which isnt too bad i suppose and they like them and they can sit on top of the cupboard with the 30 tins of beans another purchase that didnt come out of the purse :D). Forgot to take the pork chops out for tea so we are having sausage eggs chips and beans :D have taken the mince out for tomorrows tea tho (forgot to add mince to mr t order ggrrrrr).

  • Just made lovely blueberry muffins, needed buttermilk so bought some whoopsied cream to make my own (and some butter on the side) but didn't realise that it needed to be double cream :rotfl:so tipped the single cream into the mixture instead!! Absolutely delicious - don't know about money-saving though - we've nearly scoffed the lot (not on my Slimming World agenda, oops!)

back from Mr T (got a lift from a neighbour so saved on bus fare) and i've spent another £23.61 so i'm now over budget and have had to scrap OH's idea of lowering the budget to include january's overspend.

so....either my budget is too low or i need to buy less food. guess which one it is. :o

i blame mse for all those lovely moc's my fridge is crammed with benecol yogurts, gu puds, flora margerine and rustlers. :p

Hi everyone, there has been some fabulous recipes posted this month which I am trying to work into my meal plan. I had a Mr T delivery this morning of £75 but my fridge is bursting with fruit and vegetables and I keep opening the door just to look at it all . It's at times like this I wish Gillian McKeith would come knocking on my door just so I could show her our vegetables lol. I have another delivery scheduled for Friday but I'm going to cut it right back as I really want to stay in budget...it's just hard with the kids off school and every five minutes its "Mum, I'm huuuuungry!"

Hi all, just done an A!di shop with DS (I'm so bored, this is so boring etc etc!). Managed to spend £36.13 including the £2.99 bottle of merlot another poster recommended. So that'll be our valentines day treat!:rotfl:

Thank you to the person who posted the Horrorsons veg offers, I'll be there later for those and for some other bits and bobs that A!di don't seems to stock. Hoping not to spend more than another £15 (famous last words).:p
