Happy to be a number if it helps, although I don't really refer to the the front page. I like reading what is in poster's signatures instead. It's cos I am nebby:rotfl:
NSD for me today. It is DH birthday on Sunday and he has managed to get the whole weekend off so we are planning to go for something to eat without DS on Saturday night. A rare treat for us. Not sure how this will be paid for as our miscellaneous budget (seperate to the GC) has been spent. I am thinking I may have to include it in the GC budget as there is no where else.:o:(
Done a rough meal plan for the next 11 days and will only need a limited shopping list. Will keep chipping away at it until I do the shop at the weekend at Ald1 probably.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Sister Cas I agree with you, I was thinking along the same lines myself.
I do look at the front pages but mostly for the recipes which the people who keep this thread going do a brilliant job of keeping up to date. It must be hard when some of us are weekly, some monthly, some yearly and we change amounts and frequency.
I do not mind being a number but what the best outcome for all would be is the easiest way for HelenJelly who must spend a lot of time and effort keeping up especially as more new people join and others leave.
I agree too, I honestly wouldn't mind if there wasn't a list of names & budgets at the start. Must be a HUGE job to keep it updated. I certainly wouldn't want to spend that time doing it, that's for sure. My vote is for the budget & spend to be in each of our siggys. We can still declare budget & spend as normal, but really we're doing it for our own benefit so each could take the responsibility to keep own siggy up to date. Job done! :T
Hopping onto the thread again to declare the first spend of the month - the most boring shop of my life, I think :rotfl: The kind that is full of toilet rolls and cat litter, and stocking up on sunflower oil and peppercorns, but nothing to eat really. Luckily, I still have a pretty full freezer and my cupboard shelves are still bending in the middle (yes, really! :rotfl:)... I have more than enough in for this month, and hopefully possibly part of March too. So just fresh fruit & veg needed for the rest of the month, though I had to really fight my impulses tonight....how many things went in my trolley and back out again? :rotfl: It's hard work sometimes!
Keep going folks...:A

Oops. I said I wouldn't do any shopping til Fri or Sat. Well, that went right out of the winsow as I drove past te$co on the way home from college yesterday. In fairness, I did need some shampoo. I bought some cheaper (not value) shampoo that isn't anti-dandruff, thinking my scalp would be ok with it after 20 years using anti-dandruff ones. No, two weeks into using a regular shampoo, and my scalp actually hurts all over, and there is white all over my shoulders all day. Yuck! So, thought I deserved the anti-dandruff one. However, I ended up spending £13 and some pennies, not budgetted for really. That'll teach me for counting chickens before they've hatched!! Oh well, can't change that now.
Will focus on the positives though - I went to ww today, and I've lost 5.5lbs in my first week! And, it's right opposite a Mr M, and I drove into the car park, then told myself I didn't need anything, and drove away!! Go me!
Take care all,
PG x

Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending0 -
Had intended a NSD today but didn't have a clue what to make for dinner. My daughter asked if she could make it, and I agreed - she was so excited, bless her. We chose chicken chow mein.
She ended up going into the shop with her school bag over her shoulders, her little shopping list in one hand, basket in the other and a fiver in her purse
We got a bunch of spring onions, bottle of oyster sauce, mushrooms (because beansprouts are the devils own food), two red peppers and a few packs of noodles - I buy the value packs and throw out the 'seasoning' pack. She spent £4.70.
She did everything - all the measuring (of the sauce) and the chopping (with a pair of safety scissors) of the veg and the plating up as well. The only things I did were getting the sauces from the high cupboards and cutting the chicken.
She could hardly eat for saying - mummy, see my cooking and your cooking - not just your cooking - it's the bestest! I've created a little five-year-old blowhard
There should be a LOT more red pepper in that but we 'lost' half during the chopping process! :rotfl:0 -
Comfort food for dinner tonight, I did Macaroni Cheese. Did 2, one with GF pasta and one with normal pasta. Have loads left so we may have it for dinner again tomorrow with some extra veg.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Aww, freyasmum that's lovely, I bet it tasted extra special too
HelenJelly I'm happy to be a number or to just keep my own totals of spends in my siggy - or whatever is easiest for you. I've no idea how you manage to keep up with this lot and do everything else you do
Well, 1st of the month so £7.50 of the grocery budget into the savings pot (c0stc0 membership and xmas budget), then I spent £24.54 in C0stc0 and my Mr A delivery was £55.62, so I've spent £87.66, which leaves me £162.34 - good job it's only a 4 week month.
Next job is to decide what 'new' recipe I'm going to make next week - I've challenged myself to make something new every week as we were getting in a bit of a rut. Think I'll go and browse the recipes0 -
Am I too late to join in? Don't mind whether I'm a name or a number, but I'm aiming for £300 this month to feed & clean up after anywhere between 5-7 adults (assuming DS1 doesn't come home at all) 3 cats, a rabbit and an assortment of cage birds! Not counting the 10 chickens, but they shouldn't cost anything anyway - I'm well-stocked up in case of snow.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
