Bit nervous about next month as it has 5 saturdays (my SM day) any tips gratefully received

I try and bulk things out a bit with extra veg, lentils etc. so I have LO's that I can bung in the freezer and then I have days where I have HM freezer meals at the end of the month. Stews and casseroles, curry's and SC meals are the best to bulk out.

I also do a lot more veggie meals as well.

Yes there is OOD stock, also shop over orders, damaged packaging etc.

The toms I have just had are BB12/12 and the tins are dinged.

  • Have my first App.F order arriving today, and discovered with horror that I've accidentally clicked 2 of something - Olives!

I now have 4600g:eek: of black sliced olives turning up and don't have a clue how to use them all:rotfl: Any ideas gratefully received!

I thought I would bung a few into pasta, pizza, salad etc but am a bit stumped after that. Can I freeze them?!

    Hi

Yes they freeze just fine - although to be honest after they've been frozen I only cook with them as I dont think they are nice enough to eat raw - slightly more rubbery IMO. I have portioned them into tiny money bag size poly bags and wont need to buy olives for.... the rest of my life!!:D

I throw a handful into chili and just about anything I cook with tuna

Chicken with Chorizo and Bacon (in the recipe collection) is another good use of olives as well :)

If you are doing a spanish style chicken then you could pop some in as an extra.

OOps! Budget blown this month as DH came to the sm with me at the weekend....!! Need I say more! ;)

However, only about £30 over - which would be within my new budget of £450/mth (far more realistic for us as a family to cover everything - it works out at £2.42 per person per day in a 31 day month - and that's to include the nappies, newspapers, cleaning stuff, pet food and bedding (not inc in the no of pple!!) - so on that basis I'd say £450 is pretty d@mn good! (not that I'm trying to justify myself or anything....! ;))
