Well done everyone for doing so well with their budgets. Sadly mine went bust but I have learnt a valuable lesson - stay out of those sms - especially at the beginning of the month!!
I have set a challenging target for March to force me to use some of the ram packed freezer up - as soon as I use something I seem to fill the space with a bargain / batch meal!!.44 day challenge

Helen Jelly I am quite happy just to update my signature and not go on the list, thank you for all your hard work in keepingthis thread going, its my absolute favourite.
I have noticed that some posters include how many they are feeding in their signature. I really like this as it is more interesting to compare.
I have been to Mr A to stock up on the £1 butter, Country life normally 1.40, bought 10 packs, four months worth for me, got reduced pork leg joint £4 instead of £7.50.I think this is very good value at the moment as only £3kg proper price.Have portioned it out to 7 steaks, 3 x8og packs for sweet and sour and stirfry and a piece to roast which should give me 5 roast dinners. 18 meals all up, about 22p a portion . Got reduced potatoes 50p 2.5 kg and parsnips at 25p a kg.
I also went to Wilkies to buy an apple tree, different budget, and picked up a seeded loaf, 6 rolls and 4 muffins for 20p each.
Need to update my signature now but a very happy shopper today.Slimming World at target0 -
Haven't posted for a couple of weeks but have been keeping all my receipts for this month and sadly £29 over budget of £150, took my eye of the ball for a few days. Did think maybe £150 was a bit ambitious but determined still to do it next month.
I have bought quite a lot of bargain teabags and things so can probably offset a bit from that. Oh well going to go through all my receipts tonight and see where I can make savings next time.0 -

Tonight's dinner was chicken, leek and Philly pie ( in the Recipe Collection). I used the last of the chicken from my SC chicken. Served it with the mash I had left from the other day and carrots, broccoli and green beans. Clean plates all round.
I've also made a batch of breakfast bars and a spicy fruit loaf. I did a gluten free one as well but it went wrong for some reason so I am going to look at turning it into bread pudding tomorrow.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Evening guys & gals
Really hacked off yesterday so was a little stupid and ordered pizza and extras so another £28.96 spent. Have just over £130 left and only just started this month.
I am going through so much fruit at the moment, I just can't seem to get enough of it at the moment. Today I've eaten over 1lb of grapes as well as apple and melon.
Take care all

Cleggie - Big hug, SM's are just programmed to tempt us I think! I find distraction works best for me... Have you done a complete inventory of what you've got in? Bet you'd surprise youself with how much stuff you've got if you haven't checked for a while?
Quick question to everyone - I get through tons of tinned tomatoes and was wondering where the cheapest price for a tin (400g) was? Horrorsons have hiked theirs to 38p each and so have Tesco for their chopped ones. They do have whole plum ones at 31p a tin, so am going to do a massive stock-up on those before they also go up to 38p.
Before I order my own bodyweight in them though:rotfl:has anyone found them any cheaper anywhere else? Not bothered if they're chopped or whole tbh.
Heading across the bridge this weekend home to Wales, so will check out prices there too - any info greatfully received!
Thanks!
LTN
PS - Oh No! Just looked again at Mr T online and they've gone up to 39p for whole and 42p for chopped:eek::eek::eek:
I'm just shopping on Approved Foods, and they have 2550g of tinned toms for 99p, dated Dec of this year. Even paying the postage, that's got to be a saving, and you can fridge (or freeze?) what you don't use each time.

freedom2011 wrote: »I bought lots of tinned tuna when it was on offer from AP mainly as a lunch box filler. I am now thinking up frugal ways for main meals. Apart from with jacket spuds, fish cake or pasta bake I have drawn a blank. Anybody want to throw me some ideas? The store-cupboard is full of olive oil, herbs etc so I will have most things to add to any recipe.
Still working through the posts so not sure what has been suggested, but we have tuna pie quite a lot.
Fry off a chopped onion, then mix with x number tins tuna, add frozen peas, and splash of tabasco. (we occasonally add tin of mackeral if we have it) top with mash, then obviously shove it in the oven, then add a sprinkle of grated cheese then back in oven.
Just another option.SPC 18 Target £200 /0
