Well I bought an Actifry yesterday and made our first meal with the delicious chips! I even took a picture for those of you who'd like to see.
I actually prefer them to fried chips. They are crisper and less 'soggy' with oil.
Gonna try something else for dinner tonight, not sure what yet though!
P.S. Please excuse the huge portion, I had to have quite a few to make sure I liked them0 -

Bhajis, really? I would have thought they'd turn into a bit of a mess because of the batter. Do you take the paddle out and just let them sit there without being pushed round?0 -
Hmm, I'm interested to know about the bhajis too.
Last night I made something a bit different, fried some bacon in the machine for 5 mins then added cubed potatoes and sliced red onion mixed with herbs and spices. 40 mins later and they were delicious!
I think next time I'd add the onions after 10 mins as they were quite well done, but they were still lovely.
Trying roast potatoes today! Does anyone parboil or do you just chunk the potatoes and chuck them in? How long do they cook for?
Another question I had was about cooking things with sauces. The manual states the actifry is not suitable for food with a sauce but a lot of the recipes they give you do have liquid to add? Any ideas?

Today I have lamb keftico in the SC so will try some rosties with garlic and oragano in the Actifry.

I am a bit of a cheat as they were frozen ones from Tesco, but they still turn out very tasty and yes I keep the paddle in..

I've had mine about two years now and love chips, mini roasties, roasted carrots and parsnips, mushrooms, courgette/peppers/red onion/tomatoes to add to pasta is delicious. Also handy to cook nuggets for the kids instead of putting the oven on. Have also done mackerel in it and sausages without the paddle.
I love mine, however in its short life its now on it's second paddle (as the tip snapped on it), it needs a new filter and I am currently waiting on a replacement lid. It was bought second hand so it's served me well. If it had needed so many replacements from brand new, I'd have been miffed.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £152.27/150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. ebay are cheap for replacement paddles. £12 delivered is the cheapest new i think.
They snap very easily so wash these with care, especially if using a dishwasherGC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -

I brought one today! It's fab, I did roast potatoes for tea. Peeled 1kg of potatoes, washed them and dried on a tea towel before popping them in with a spoon of oil. 45 mins later we had amazingly crisp roast potatoes (not as good as the oil soaked oven roasted ones but still very tasty and crispy at less than 1/4 power of the main oven and obviously much healthier)
The recipe book shows you can do rissotto in there so I shall give that a try tomorrow!
I'm impressed so far"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
