Sounds like you've overcooked the cabbage. Veggies don't take long, and even less time if they are finely chopped. I haven't cooked cabbage recently, but from memory a few mins will be plenty. If I'm doing a stir fry, I start off with courgettes, ,let them get soft, then add whatever else I've got.. Ths takes about 12 to 15 mins from start to finish. I don't usually bother adding a sauce. Tomatoes moisten it slightly, but not much, as they go like roast veg.
I've only ever done chicken , and keep the paddle in.
Someone more knowledable might be able to help :)

I bought my first Actifry about 5 years ago but unfortunately that one and the following 2 replacements literally blew up - quite scary at the time! I then chose to give the Phillips Airfryer a try.

The Phillips Airfryer does the job but comparing the two I much prefer the Actifryer and would love to revert back. I understand the 'blowing up' problem had been 'sorted' but I was wondering if anyone has had any recent problems? I would love to get one of the black ones while they are under £100 in Currys & Argos.

  • I gave mine away three years ago, it wasn`t earning its keep wrt space and tbh was a waste of money

I love my Actifry - though it was a bit on the pricey side at the time. Then again, it came with a 'Free Tefal Steamer' - so maybe can't quite be called 'over priced'.

Had it for about three years and I've used it for more than just chips. The 'roasties' out of it are delicious; the sausage casserole is another good one; so is chicken curry/tikka. I even had a go at the 'christmas red cabbage' last year. I loved it, but other people just didn't go for red cabbage anyway :(.

I hadn't heard about any problems with them 'blowing up' and mine has certainly never shown signs of any problems whatsoever.

It was a well known fault when I was on my 3rd one...

Thanks for that link, socks_uk. If I'd seen it before buying, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Bit late to do anything about it now, but I'll make sure I keep a close eye on it when cooking in the future.
  • Hello! I'm thinking of treating myself to one of these gadgets for Christmas. I can't decide which one to get. I would use it for chips and meat (like chicken wings). My brother swears by the Actifry. Has anyone here had experience of both?
  • So I ended up with the actifry! How exciting!

Ok, here is a question. I know that it is great for chips and that it is also great for chicken. But how about cooking chicken and chips in it at the same time? Say some chicken thighs and some chips? Has anyone tried that before?

I haven't done chicken but do do the kids sausage and chips, i just stick the sausages on for a few mins first then add the chips.
The actifry is a hard one I love it but truthfully will never recoup the cost of the machine so wouldn't recommend it purely for the pricetag on the thing.
  • I have recently discovered a Facebook actifry page, lots of useful tips and recipe links....https://www.facebook.com/Actifry.Recipies?ref=ts&fref=ts
