The winner of the smartphone OS battle will be whichever OS costs less to install.

I have had a Samsung GT5900 with droid 2.1 on for nearly 2 years. Yes, it occasionally crashes, but as regularly as a workmate's iPhone 4 seams to.

Android, like iOS, was never designed to work on a tablet. Apple had to respond to the threat it saw from prototype Apads being touted around China, so launched the iPad and with it, iOS4, the first attempt at a tablet OS. You could tell straight away it was a mobile phone OS due to the small icons and large blank areas of screen.

Android was never designed to be anything other than a smartphone OS, Google had to spend a lot of time re-jigging it to work on a tablet. If they hadn't, then the cheap and nasty tablets running Android 1.6 would have damaged the reputation of Android beyond repair.

Galaxy SII, Brilliant, Not an Apple fan. They should spend a few more coppers on testing instead of
wasting money on trying to stop the world from copying their idea's, The idea's they copied from elsewhere in the 1st place.

Faking pictures of Galaxy tablets and the Galaxy SII so they look identical in size to the apple products when they are not.

I dont want to void the warranty to put a program on that i wrote. And they wont allow because its similar to one they have.

    I want freedom.

    I love my phone... :)

Do you also work for Samsung and have the inside info?
If you do than the news paper such as FT are making up the stories and you should ask your legal team via Samsung to look into this:

The main reason Google are purchasing Motorola is due to their
patent portfolio. Google have even said the Motorola will be run
    at arms length.

Its obvious your a apple fanboy. Please don't misinform people about matters you don't clearly understand or can't grasp.

If less people did, then the prices would be more in line with comparable phones

If people stopped buying crappy Android phones it'd force Android manufacturers to make better devices. That ain't going to happen either :(.

Its not about windows Phone, Android or Apple being perfect or not.
With the Android too much out in open with the purchase of Motorola.
Is Google going to focus more on Motorola only?
One reason why samsung is worried and trying to release its own OS.
Is HTC going to reduce the product line because it knows Android product range have a limited life for them?
Is Google going to make Android more close system?
If it does than HTC / Smasung dont have much extra to offer.

With Apple you know what you are getting

Yes and here is a real recent example , it was no secret that iOS 5 was shortcoming

Good news if you're one of the iOS 5 users who suffers from crippled battery life: Most early reports are showing that iOS 5.0.1 fixes the problem completely.
"Frankly the difference is nothing short of amazing," said Wired US reader Donald Kuntzman, who downloaded the update on his Verizon iPhone 4. "To go almost an entire day without a change in the meter reading seems unbelievable. Where before I could almost watch the battery drain, now it doesn't move at all."
Kuntzman noticed that the battery life on his iPhone degraded after the iOS 5 upgrade. He needed to charge his phone once a day, and always worried it would die before he had a chance to recharge it. He could practically "watch the battery drain," but since the update, his battery level doesn't seem to drop at all.
Sam Bertolet tweeted to @GadgetLab that his previous 15 percent battery loss per hour has been reduced to 4 to 5 percent with the update. Another reader tweeted that he only needs to charge every other day, as opposed to every day. Others like Khoi Pham "definitely noticed the battery life improvement" in the Beta 2 update.
Yesterday, reports surfaced that select iOS users were getting an early upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 to fix a number of iOS 5-related issues such as battery problems, Siri issues (for Australian 4S owners), and buggy iCloud documents. On Nov. 2, Apple confirmed that it had identified some bugs related to iOS 5, and said it would be delivering a fix in coming weeks.
But it looks like the fix isn't working for everyone. A few users have not seen any improvement with iOS 5.0.1 at this time. Gareth Evans tweeted that he saw no difference; he's still getting six hours of usage on standby and four and a half when it's being used. One user even reported worse battery life with the update, but that unlucky individual seems to be an outlier.
Wired US has reached out to Apple to find out specifics of the 5.0.1 update, and will keep you updated as we find out more information. In the meantime, if you have a iOS 5.0.1 update story to share, leave us a comment below this article and describe what you're experiencing.
