No one buys a car without inspecting it,.....
Last year I sold two cars on Ebay. They were both sub-£1000 but the buyers turned up, paid the money and drove the cars away without a second glance.
I then bought a car from a dealer 110 miles away for £14k. It was a good price and I figured I could back out if the car wasn't as "perfect" as they described it when I turned up to collect. Fortunately it was.
Buying without inspection or a test drive is increasingly common. Can I help?0

HPI should never be factored into any vehicle price,
HPI check is normally factored into screen price from dealers. Evans Halshaw add it, at an inflated cost, after the sale is agreed to increase their profits.0

That is what I was trying to say in my earlier post just not as eloquently0

Is there anything we can do about this?
For a start, they've been using it as a dealership taxi, that's where the extra miles have come from.
Secondly the HPI check costs next to nothing, a quick search show's £19.99, a dealership can do these checks for free IIRC.
My brother has had HPI's checks done for me in the past, didn't cost a penny as he works at a main dealership.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Sounds like it was a Motability car. As when they get offered to us dealers at month 33 the mileage will always be about 3000 LESS than it actually is when the car turns up at the end of month 36.0

EH buy a lot of stock from Manheim auctions, usually ex-mobility cars, not everyone lives to the end of the contract ! , they will have received a HPI certificate from the Auction house.
Coincidently the "indemnity fee " from the auction is £72+ vat. so give or take a few pence, looks like they just pass it on.
You should really have questioned the mileage before driving away, how do you prove you have not driven on a UK tour ?
It is always best to take a friend with a strong head and tell them to look outside the box for you as garages are very good at flustering you, with flowers, stories, tales, humour, all to get you to miss a few things out.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Yes, but it's up to the purchaser to decline to pay it.
I did, when I bought a car from EH. They also told me that the car would have a warranty, but that it would cost me more than £300 on top of the purchase price we had agreed. I told them I didn't want it. They told me that they couldn't sell me a car without giving me a warranty, so I asked them if they really had that little faith in the quality of the cars they were selling!
After more discussion during which the cost of the warranty gradually came down in price, I was invited into the manager's office. Eventually, he told me that they would not sell me the car without giving me a warranty, as a matter of company policy, and asked me what they could do to convince me to take it.
I told him that he could include it in the purchase price we had already agreed. He seemed to find that amusing, but after a bit more discussion, that was indeed what happened. He had the option of selling me the car or watching me walk out, and he knew I was serious about buying it, but only at the price I had already agreed with his salesman before all these little extras materialised.0

Personally I would not buy any car if it didn't have a dealer service record and previous MOTs (where applicable) to support the mileage.0
