Is a badge covered by the warranty?

How can you "frivously" use a warranty?
Ford are pretty quick to deny warranty claims if they can!
My suggestion would avoid the OP getting a reputation (if he's bovvered) at his own dealer!
I think my post is perfectly clear. If you don't agree with my view, that's fine. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
I took the points being made...
I did notice that none of the ones on the eBay link above were for the 2007- model (not sure if there's any difference between them). Though I might get a Titanium X badge to stick on the car since it's only a Zetec.
I know I sound a bit tight in this thread. Of course I can afford a new badge comfortably but it's the principle - it's not the cheapest car in the world and I'd expect the badge to last a few years before falling apart (we definitely haven't abused it).0 -

No you don't.
Ford have been paid for the warranty, and what is wrong in claiming off it.
Ignore all those "advising" you to pay for it yourself.
Just dunno why they bother posting advice like that here on money saving expert!!
(And it won't cost your dealer - they don't fund ford by paying for warranty claims themselves!!)0 -
My guess is they'll class it as trim, which has a one year warranty.0

We'll be using the dealer in our town for the service as they're closest. So, I have no qualms about upsetting a dealer. I'll ask nicely about the badge and see what they say.
If I annoy them then there's three other Ford dealers within 20 miles we can use in the future.
The reason I complained about the first owner servicing it early is that it means we have to service it in Feb instead of April, and so pay the bill sooner. Car was registered in April 2010. They had it serviced in Feb 2011 and then traded it in a couple of months later. Ford told me that to preserve the warranty, I have to stick to the 12 month service interval - i.e. I can't wait till April to service it when the car will actually be 2 years old. It's not that a big deal, just irritating.Do wonder what went wrong with the car to make him get it serviced after 10 months, but we've had no problems with it.
Could have been numerous reasons why the previous owner had it serviced early. 1. they may have been thinking of selling it privatley and wanted it serviced before advertising, makes perfect sense, doesnt make them an idiot!!!
As you said you should/could have asked the dealer before purchase to sort the badge, having said that you still can ask!0 -
Was only talking about the poor quality badges on a 09 plate mondeo yesterday the middle rear ford badge looked awful and the chrome wad peeling of the other badges.
I got an old mk2 mondeo and badges look like new after 12 years.Google gives you answers use it.........0 -
I think it's bizarre to tell the OP to pay for the badge themselves. Surely precisely because it is so cheap and easy, they're likely to do it anyway, even if it's not under warranty... They do have a vested interest in keeping their relatively new cars that are out and about looking to be quality products, don't they? Just ask them in a friendly manner if they'll sort it when it gets serviced.
And, if you're not trying to replace it yourself, you can't accidentally wreck your paint while you're doing it. Fixing your paintwork would cost you more.0 -
As previously mentioned the badge will probably be classed as trim which only has a 1 year warranty.
OP, how many miles did the car have on it when serviced ?0 -
