"There was a bit of a radio documentary on radio4 about Ringtons a couple of years ago, apparently they produce one of the teas for M&S "fluffnutter wrote: »People flogging teabags door to door? What a bizarre thing to try to sell on the doorstep. Here's what happens in my house.... Ooh, I'm running low on tea. Must put it on the shopping list for when I next go the supermarket.
This is somewhat different to... Ooh, I'm running low on tea. I do hope that someone comes knocking the door soon selling teabags.0 -

Yes, I know who they are and that they are a very respectable company.
The issue is that their sales person ignored a perfectly clear notice, and then was rude.0 -
How pedantic! She may have been a woman, but she was also a cold caller!
Equaliser was just making a jokeHe wasn't being serious (I don't think so anyway)
Yes, unless you know me personally or have a parcel/service I have already ordered then, yes, that sign applies to everyone. I don't want salespeople, religious callers, catalogues or survey people unless I have asked you to contact me.
If she'd done that to me I'd be sending a notice to the company that if I ever see anyone from them on my doorstep again I would call the police for trespass.
Ah I know a few companies *cough* weatherseal *cough* space kitchens *cough* that see these signs and make a point of purposely knocking on the door regardless.
Personally I like to mess with them if I'm not busy. I'll even say I have something in the oven, brb.......and then see how long they stand there waiting before walking away/knocking againThen again, I have a sadistic side :A
There is one elderly gentleman who comes door to door selling polish, plasters, earbuds, air freshners and the like......I always spend money with him. His prices are actually really good and he's such a nice polite man! Haven't seen him in a while thoughWonder if he's retired.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I was mealy informing someone else who said its "People flogging teabags door to door? What a bizarre thing to try to sell on the doorstep. " I never disputed you didnt know who they are
Companies always ignore signs waste of time having them. Waste of time telling cold callers on phone too, companies ignore peoples privacyYes, I know who they are and that they are a very respectable company.

Its really not worth getting annoyed about or posting. Yes they shouldn't do it but they will so you have to accept that. Just smile, say no thank you" and shut the door. Before they even get a chance to reply, they soon go and they know they are wasting there time0

You can buy online from Ringtons. Really, no reputable company these days needs to be flogging door to door. It's a much maligned and unpopular way of drumming up business and sensible companies are wise to avoid it. There are a few exceptions I guess; some established businesses are very much associated with doorstep selling, e.g. Avon, Bettaware, Kleeneze. Mind you, even these manage to piss people off"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Well They arent doing to bad maybe its alien to you were you are Ringtons, but the company delivery a lot in North/York/Linc and are one of the oldest established companies who sell door to door, over 100 years I think
The problem is not with selling at door, some people may prefer that, its the way companies operate by ignoring peoples wishes, and that's what we got here.fluffnutter wrote: »You can buy online from Ringtons.
