You took out the pay day loans. You spent the money *shrugs* What else is there? You say you work - you tell us why it all went so wrong. You tell us why you can't make your money stretch. Post up an honest statement of affairs.0

It really makes me angry when I see people who clearly have never been in certain situations make judgements and give comments that are just degrading. If you do not understand the situation then fine, I don't expect you to if you have never been there but please show people a little respect. I keep saying this but people end up in payday loan situations because they are desperate, no sane person pays that amount of interest if they can avoid it, so please lay off people who get themselves into trouble. They need proffesional help and good moral support, not be made to feel rediculous.
Thats why I shake with rage and I really do.
To me, when you "show people a little respect" this includes dealing with the fact that they don't agree with you, without feeling the need to tell them that you're shaking with rage because they dared to express a dissenting opinion.
If you really do feel that angry when someone disagrees with your worldview then I sincerely suggest some anger management courses because that sort of stress can't be good for your health.
One key part of helping people with problems that they wholly or partially caused for themselves is helping them to accept the responsibility for their actions in causing problems they have suffered. Treating people with kid gloves so that they don't have to do this is just as destructive as constantly running them down.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
No, YOU destroyed your families life - not the PDL companies. YOU made the choice to take out the loans. Take some responsibility.
Not this argument again. As above, you chose to take the loan. Quite how you can think that if you're ****ed for cash at a particular time, and know you won't have enough coming in when the loan is due to cover the repayment and cost of living, yet still take it out is beyond me, it just doesn't make sense!
And OP, why take a payday loan out if you're unemployed? The point is you repay the amount when you are paid. Unless of course you were made redundant or lost your job during the loan period - anything else is just daft.0 -

There is plenty more than that, how did I get to the situation where I needed to take a payday loan? and what lead to the situation before that?
Just as I thought, you are completly lacking any basis to hold up your sweeping atatement. Arn't you clever.
I have barely told you a jot of my life and how all of this came about. There are currently 100,000s of people stuck in the payday loan trap, you can close your eye's, desolve all responsibility of cause and just blame the people in trouble if you like. A real person with intelligence would look at the situation and try to analyse why it is going wrong for so many people and what can be done to stop this happening.
oh and P.s. I never said that payday loans were responsible for what has happened to my family. I actually said they had a hand in the situation.

You are right it doesn't make sense and this is where people who have not been there normally start to misunderstand the situation. Once you get to a situation of desperation, desperate people make foolish decisions. It is very difficult when you are in the situation of being the sole provider in your household yet you can't even buy a box of corn flakes.0 -
Also if Payday Loan companies were so upstanding and legitimate why has the US, which has a banking system very similar to ours decided to outlaw the practice in so many states?0

Thread of the month IMO, highly entertaining thus far0

That is just over a fifth of US states - not really "so many states"!
If you had an income then you had money to ensure your family did not starve. The DWP were correct, they are not there to pay your debts. If you had debts you should have sought help in managing them from an appropriate source. However it would appear that you made a foolish error in not doing this. Surely the thing to learn from this would be what you did wrong and hence, will not do again, rather than continually blaming others?
Oh, and I have been in debt. I found my way out of it without taking out payday loans and without anyone starving!0 -
The banking system in the US bears no resemblence whatsoever to the one in the UK.0

So come on, lets have a little honesty from you, eh? My stance is that the people that take out the pay day loans are responsible for paying them (or not). They are to blame when they get in a mess through not paying. I believe that no one HAS to get a pay day loan. You clearly disagree. So, come on. You tell us why you got in such a Godawful mess with payday loans that your salary runs out on the 6th day after pay day.

So tell us. Post your story and a SOA. Include your wages, any benefits you are in receipt of, all your outgoings including rent, mortgage, council tax, Sky, mobile phones, gas, electric etc. Enlighten me. Prove me wrong - because so far all you've done is complain, moan and blame others.michael1983l wrote: »Arn't you clever.
Cleverer than you, clearly. I can make my wages last a whole month.0
