I have had to transfer most of money to the savings part of my bank account just to avoid a hit to it.

You took out the loans, you owe the money. If you savings throw the lot at this debt - what's the point in having savings and owing on 2 pay day loans?
The thing is, I don't know when I am returning to work and this isn't helping my health due to an anxeity condition.

I don't suppose it is helping, but that's not the Pay Day loan companies' fault is it?

    Thanks keepcalm and ihateyes :)

I've had my account decimated thanks to wonga and PDE, so luckily most of money that I have transffered to my savings account has remained unscathed.

Could the savings account online take over as the official account? My sister had something similar so could it call be transffered? On top of that, can I get the money back off the bank?

    I am with Lloyds TSB.

Actually I suspect its because of your actions rather then these two companies .I am not saying this to stir the thread up , but the fact is if you can't keep repayment plans agreed with these companies , then the penalties are harsh
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later
  • OP, there are 3 things that you need to do, in this order.

Don't take out anymore payday loans
Change your bank account to a totally new bank (away from banks you owe money too) ASAP
Seek debt advice to help you set up repayment plans or advise you on your other options.
    Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

In most states of the USA, Payday Lending is illegal.

Payday lenders are thrown into jail for up to five years.

That's where the sinister financiers who backroll Wonga belong: locked securely behind bars.

Nothing wrong with PDL, the problems occur when the the customer can't keep to the payment schedule and wonga or who ever dont play ball.

Wonga didnt force the OP to take out the loan, he did it on his own free will.

We're not in the US and this is not going to help the OP.

The Wonga one I've heard of people being successful in getting plans setup BUT only when the advice of new bank account is followed

Personally I believe these payday lenders should be wrote to and if you can sell stuff, live on beans, cut back, get the overtime in or a 2nd job, join a credit union to get rid of quicker thats the way to go.

Twelve Stops - I don't fancy your chance of reclaiming monies back from your bank (I may be wrong tho) you could also try issue your own claim for any believed overpayment eventually once paid up (there's food for thought)

    How are you getting on?
    :)

The logic of taking out a Payday loan when you have some savings is completely ridiculous. Use the savings to pay down all or at least, part of the Payday loan.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

    Wrong.

It's perfectly legal in 33 states but prohibited in 17 states and the District of Columbia.

    Check this source - http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/legal-status
  • It is hard to pay back PDL when you probably shouldn't have taken them out in the first place, but it can be done. If you can manage, pay the principle, then a bit over, I did this and have managed to pay off one of them, now the 2nd is almost gone too, it is a good feeling, but you do have to be very strict with yourself for months, and run on an almost impossible budget, but it can be done, good luck in sorting yourself out:money:

At which point did the OP say they had savings?

Why can't people read the ruddy posts before making unhelpful useless comments

OP has an online saving account with lloyds, if you read the posts you would have known that ;)

These accounts can be opened with £1 and that isn't going to go very far with Wonga or PDE now is it :rotfl:

It sounds like the OP is transferring whatever gets paid into the current account, into the savings account, to avoid the pdls taking it!

12stops you need to follow the HELPFUL advice above and open another bank account, away from lloyds. Otherwise lloyds will allow the payments to the pdls then you will also have a pile of overdraft charges. They can and will move money from the savings account to then clear your overdraft.

How the pdls taking the payments? Have they got your debit card details?

To be fair, the OP deosn't actually state that the savings account is empty, just that money was moved into it.

An assumption on both sides so no need for flaming is there?
