If you subscribe to Netflix in the UK then it's possible to access the much larger selection of films in the American Netflix catalogue using a FREE plugin called "Media Hint" for Firefox or Chrome.

As I understand it; it is entirely legal and basically fools the site into thinking you are viewing in the US. The plugin also grants you access to Hulu (an American catchup TV service).

I personally woudn't subscribe to Netflix for the pitiful amount that is on it's UK catalogue but the American catalogue has many series that aren't available in the UK.

I know caution is usually the order of the day when something online offers you something for nothing but I've been using the plugin for a while and haven't noticed anything unusual or dodgy about it. If you use Netflix I honestly can't recommend it enough.
  • I wish to connect my laptop to my TV so that I can watch films from streaming services such as Netflix. Any help on how I can do this? The laptop simply has a VGA port and the TV has HDMI, Component and SCART connectors. Thanks

There is also an App for the Kindle Fire called VPN one click which does the same thing. Download from 1mobile marketplace for free.

You need to use an IP address spoofer that tells the UK server you are viewing from there (or any other location you desire). I use s/w called 'HMA' (Hide my A*s*s) which works well.

    Hi folks,

I am hoping someone could tell me what I need to connect up my Toshiba lap top to my TV and how to configure it. The interfaces I have on my lap top is as follows:

    1 × DC-in
    1 × external monitor*
    1 × RJ-11
    1 × RJ-45
    1 × external microphone
    1 × headphone (stereo)
    3 (Left 2, Right 1) × USB 2.0
1 × integrated VGA Web Camera with built-in microphone

    * VGA socket albeit without the two female threaded sockets either side for securing the male connector.

I have an analogue TV connected to a set top box via a scart lead. The set top box has a spare scart socket, a VGA socket and two audio/jack sockets coloured red and yellow and labeled left and right.

    Thanks.

Have used this and is really easy to do with Firefox. Have been able to watch Fox, CBS etc no problem.
