The other thing that frustrates me with LF is that because its a DVD service too, if you search for a title as I did this last weekend, it comes up with 99% of what you want, but often the title is only to available to rent on DVD or buy. If your signed up to streaming only service, I'd rather it on showed results for movies if they are available to actually watch streaming.

Netflix: Top quality Wii Streaming, good layout, recommendations. Getting slightly bored with the selection and the M&S voucher issues lets them down badly!

Lovefilm Instant: Streaming is interrupted with buffering. Search is annoying as it throws up dvd's and pay per view, though you can click on the tree to filter results. (left) Quidco was paid quickly. Though more films it's still a chore to find something to watch.

I've saved a fortune though by avoiding itunes as some of these movies are £2.49/£3.49 for rental on itunes!!!

It's so hard to choose between them as they both have their differences. Having both means one gets neglected. (how do you choose which one to switch on unless you have a movie in mind?)

Lovefilm was given the elbow by me mid April and Netflix today.

They were a good idea until the obvious gems ran out and the quality of Lovefilm Instant cheesed me off.

Blinkbox 99p have been boring lately or already seen.

I've paid (costly) for a couple of itunes rentals as wanted to see!

Lovefilm instant unlimited (£8 per month) blows netflix out the water, it gives you access to the on-line selection 5500 and the postal selection 70000!?

The films on Netflix are old and not classics, imo.

I wondered what the catch was with Blinkbox free movies - adverts every ten minutes!!!

Oh it's painful!! 11 ad breaks in my movie!!! I think it's not worth the hassle, better if they made it every 15-20 minutes like the tv!!

I prefer the 99p Mondays at least NO stops!!! (if you can find something nice)

LoveFilm sent me a 3 for 1 offer to tempt me back but it had expired as the expiry date was under the printed card! (DOH !)
    Anyway

I phoned up and they gave me the offer, SO I have 3 months Instant for £4.99 !!!!

I downloaded the LoveFilm Player app and watched "The Guard"'on my IPad and it was impressively flawless!

(I am tempted by the DVD by post option but don't know if I can trust things going astray with my luck?)

Keep an eye on Groupon. They sometimes do Lovefilm deals for a greatly reduced price. For some reason, Groupon gave me a £5 voucher right at the same time they did a 3 months of Lovefilm Instant for £6 quid, so I used the voucher and got the offer for £1 whole pound :).

Although i'm a month in to the offer and i've probably only watched about 3 films !

It did make me wonder though. If you're doing a streaming-only offer, what's to stop you registering any old valid address and then pairing your viewing device of choice with it ?

Obviously if it's against the T's & C's (which i suspect it may well be..) then I wouldn't encourage it or support it, but how would Lovefilm know you hadn't either sold your device or lent it to a friend or family member to take up the offer ??

Does seem to be a bit of a loophole IMO ..

    *edit*

it appears lovefilm instant is actually down .. whoops :)

I watched my second film "Four Lions" yesterday without any issues.

I like how you can get inspirations by watching a Lovefilms focus group video where a few people discuss their recommendations.
  • Connection questions, as we use a box dedicated to service using HDMI lead we have no issues.

I do use Netflix USA on laptop running spotflux so we can look at USA library on offer but again I have put an HDMI out on my laptop. On another note if have no HDMI out try using USB to HDMI or VGA/3.5Jack To HDMI converter they are on ebay this fixed the issue for a friend of ours.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
