Interesting Letter from Berlin in the latest Private Eye about the extent to which German companies bribed Greek officials in order to get Greek government contracts.
Two alleged factoids;
- not only was it once not a criminal offence in Germany to bribe foreign government officials, payments made were actually tax allowable until 2002
- the Greek army has more tanks than the UK, France and Germany put together.
Don't no about the former, but there is a site called http://www.globalfirepower.com which measures that sort of thing. (Good news; we're ranked No5 in the world.) According to them Greek Army does have 1,913 tanks, and we've only got 407.
That's quite a lot of tanks for a small country.

When Russia financially annexes Greece, the usage of those tanks will become interesting.0 -

Russia is poor and they already have money pits!
After Crimea, Cyprus and sanctions, they have enuff problems as it is! Beside, don't think Russia and Greek style would blend well...so it'd be another headache!0
