    Just had a very nice shop, auto hammer SEL £29.00 scanned at £65.99 so paid £7.99 to take it away :)

    Many thanks Miss Laid - I got one of these too but doubt I would have seen it without you giving it a mention.

    I couldn't see an expiry date on it but when the CS was on the phone to a Manager getting authorisation for DTD, :T she said that when she looked closely at the reduced label she saw an expiry date of October 2011! :rotfl:

  • Hi rufy do you just go on a comparison website and then ring the cheapest insurer direct?my contents insurance is due at beginning of april and i'm sure i'm probably being overcharged as i've been with same company for 10yrs and never query why it goes up year upon year:eek:

    :eek::eek::eek:
    Yes I go on all the comparison sites then check the direct online sites that don't subscribe to the comparison sites. Then I call them direct and play them off against each other. It is shocking :mad::mad: how much you can save. Recently got MIL to do this rather tan trusting the nice man at the company she has used for the last 8 years for her car ins. She was so thrilled and proud to have saved over £100 !
    Am currently searching for car ins due next moth and the quotes range from £26 to £44 a moth and I'm determined to get it below £25 without compromising the cover.

    Have to admit I'm a bit OCD but it pays off :rotfl:

    Try playing around with the employment status if applicacable. theres a bit on mse about it. Unemployed costs more with some than unemployed for medical reasons for example. hth

    Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm not suggesting that you tell porkies...

    As far as I am aware, you do not need to provide actual evidence of the number of hours you work. As you are genuinely only a few hours a week short, would you reach the target if you included the time spent doing preparation and paperwork?

    If you are self-employed then I would consider any time spent doing anything work-related should count so with a mystery shopping trip for example I would count the time spent reading the job spec, travelling to the job, doing the job, travelling back from the job and submitting the report as being time worked.

    Keeping a record of all your jobs, income and expenses is also time consuming - can you count a couple of hours a week as hours worked if you need that time to keep your books up to date?

    When I was on a 12 hour contract per week and needed to be doing 16 hours I used my self employed time to make up the other 4 hours. I was asked some quite searching questions by the Tax Credit peeps so I would want to make sure I have enough evidence this time for the extra 6 hours per week. This year I've been quite slack and not taken on as many jobs (hmmm I wonder what I've been doing in my spare time?;))

    And yes I include all the above but so far this year I would only be able to prove about an average of 3.5 hours per week. Still I've got time for another 30 or 40 jobs before April 4, its do-able :)
    Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can :(

    i go the comparison sites then directly to the ones i like the look of, and its always loads cheaper going directly as you arent paying commission to the comparisons

  • In the freezer I saw a large stuffed turkey something in a red Christmas-y box, scanned at £6.00. I didn't want one but that seems good value for something that size. I'm pretty sure the use by date was July - I think it was a stuffed crown perhaps?

    I bought a frozen 900g stuffed Pork Loin Joint for £1.25 - again, Christmas range, blue box this time.

    Neither of these had any sel.
