We both have large families, mne especially. Wat id like to do is wait until ds1 is 16 in 2 yrs. hes got his day planned and consists wholly of changing his name by deed pole and wiping his hands clean. That way we will all have same name. Dont want him to be odd one out after his life thus far
I don't know your circumstances Wool....but when my daughter was about 14 she said she didn't like having a different surname to the rest of us. She'd always been known as the same name as us but she said it was embarrassing at school if she had a different teacher or anything official was read out as they always used her registered name
We looked into getting her name changed by deed poll and discovered that as she'd had no contact with my ex husband in the previous two years we didn't need his permission to change her name.
So we did it using an online solicitor. It was really simpleMy husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -

Purdita - well done you for persevering and getting your ill-health retirement money in the end - you deserve it, so treat yourself too. I remember when I got my ill-health retirement pension and lump sum in December 1989 - back in the old days, pre-money savvy me - it just fairly quickly disappeared, with nothing to show for it
Wool - 1042 CC points  fantastic, well done hun :T

Mr3Dogs text me to say he'd lost 1 1/2 lbs, but I found it
Gained 1 1/2 pounds - too many of Mam's biccies and choccie buttons when I am feeding her, plus chocs at home at night time
I have never had kids, but now appreciate what Mum's say when they finish off their kids food, and it is just like that when feeding Mam. Not that I would finish off her main meals  pureed meat, gravy and veg  but her ice cream, cake & custard and biccies .... I just have to taste them to see if they are ok for her
I got to the home to see Mam tonight just 10 minutes after my sister, who had found her right down her chair, with her head awkwardly tucked up where her bottom should be and her legs off the chair from her hips downwards. She'd got the carers to get her up and they popped her into bed with her clothes on, just took her trousers off her, for her dinner and they would sort her out later when they settled her for the night. My sister was quite shaken and angry at the way she had found her, and had asked how long it had been since they checked on her, but the nurse had been down about 30 minutes earlier to check on her as she was shouting then. The chair in that room is not suitable for her as she is so light and has not the strength the keep herself upright, so they are going to put her chair in the tv lounge and take her up there tomorrow so they can see how she is on it, otherwise they will see about swapping chairs around, hopefully getting the one out of her old room which hadn't given this problem at all, problem being there is someone else in her old room now
Anyway, once in the bed, she was fine and ate her meal and pud then a cuppa and dunked biccies, and was happy enough when we left at 6.40 pmMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
