He'll have a job, poor devils had his water cut off  Hope you get your supply back soon. In the meantime I'd just enjoy the glass of wine ;)

My less coarse saying lately is Holy maloly! No idea why or where it came from even.

Different hospitals call it different things, but essentially they are all the same- make an official complaint via the patient advice and liaison people. This is official and gets given to the relevant manager to investigate thoroughly. I know this for certain as I have dealt with loads of them in the last couple of weeks
I hope he is on the mend soon xx

I would go through patient liaison as Queen Of Cheap suggests, they are there purely to help you and are duty bound to take any complaints very seriously. What happens if he eats wheat? Could it make him very seriously ill or worse? A well-placed suggestion to patient liaison that they could be facing legal action if they don't take his food needs seriously could work well. Any decent PALS service (as ours is called) will realise this without you pointing it out but it doesn't hurt to remind them.
If you don't get anywhere with any of this and if you can't get him transferred to another hospital (he has the right to choose where he's treated - something to look into), I would get the press involved, anything from a local newspaper to the times - the more noise you make the more they will take notice and bring their standards up to scratch. Hospitals live in fear of bad press, even if you were to lightly 'threaten' them with this, it could work wonders!!

Thank you so much QOC and Kadison for your advice :A, I have spoken to my mum this evening about contacting PALS and she is going to look into this. Apparently they do have a PAL liaison person that she is gong to have a chat with tomorrow :)

In the hospital my mum is in the nurses work 12hr 40min shifts so they do 2 or 3 and then have rest days. This seems to mean there is little continuity with which nurse is dealing with which patient. I am sure this leads to misunderstandings/mistakes and not being to talk with someone properly about the patients current condition.
I know the nurses work incredibly hard in understaffed conditions but the experience we have had of the NHS since my mum has been in has been awful. Some lovely nurses but more money needs to go in to the NHS to make it even adequate.

Thanks FloFlo :A, your absolutely right, most of the nurses do work very hard for little thanks or money, but it is the system that fails them and the patients :(.
I’m so sorry to hear that yours and your mums experience of the NHS has also been bad, sending you and your mum lots of :heart2: and thinking of you xx

Can't believe you've taken the time to say such nice things to so many people.....especially when you've such trouble of your own with your poor dad.
If I could wrap you up and bring you home I would......I think every home needs a little Fudge 2 :A:A

Sorry, just catching up so skipping about a bit. Echo these sentiments totally regarding Fudge2's posts, and Purdita, your line "If I could wrap you up and bring you home I would......I think every home needs a little Fudge 2" - just lovely and so true. Thank you both. xx

And bless you all for such kind words :A:A:A, Purdita that was really lovely, but I think you would all probably change your mind quite quickly if you, really did all have a fudge2 in your house, :rotfl:, I’m afraid I’m not that useful around the house, unless you want a cake baking ;) as that is about the limit of my homemaking abilities, but if your happy just having someone curled up all warm and snuggly taking residence on your sofa images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQeavUbWa2FQfKgZaXpai-Xcr2ckFoqUhWeWo7A3M_jqy0F3evxrQ, then we’ll get along just fine :D

I had a right mardy cow recently. Refused to refund me what I was entitled on 2 high value items as I'd been overcharged and given DTD. I explained that DTD was Tesco's apology for overcharging and didn't affect their 28 day promise of a refund for whatever reason. I was not by the way trying to claim the price I paid, but the price I should have paid so all was above board and honest.

She stuck to her guns and I snatched the receipt from her hand and told her how she clearly didn't know her job and that I'd be phoning HO.

I did so and HO phoned the store and she flatly refused to entertain the idea.

HO are sending me a giftcard for what I was entitled (HO chap was very helpful and knew his policies inside out and said she was well out of line and said it would be 'dealt with' internally....he didn't sound impressed with her at all) and told me to keep the items.

Her pigheadedness has not only brought some retraining to her store, but its annoyed her bosses and cost the company she works for a lot more money than if she'd refunded what I was due!!

Some staff can't see past their own self importance sadly.

I'll be in that store again at the weekend....I hope my giftcard comes before then as I have every intention of rubbing her nose firmly in it!!! :D

This I did not know, always thought I had to wait for a golden to get any sort of refund. How do you approach this with a receipt that has been written on and then you'll want a refund for an amount less than that on the receipt?

Is this process written anywhere and do people do this often?

oh god let there be a glitch soon

In the immortal words of Frank Zappa:

" Watch out where the huskies go
And don't you eat that yellow snow"

(I'm too young to know that, my grandma told me about it).

    And yes!!!!!
    Hope is not a strategy.

Ah Bingers!! is a great phrase. To me it says that I am not overly impressed with what's going on but nobody thinks that it is a swear word so everyone is happy.

Try it.. From now on every time you want to swear, just say ah, bingers!! I guarantee you will feel great and the person you are peed off with won't take offence.

    That's nice ! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Edit - I see Snap-Ant beat me to it :T
    Hope is not a strategy.
