Fail safe for me is weigh 4 eggs, whatever that comes to add the same weight of SR flour, margarine and granulated sugar and some vanilla essence. I bake cakes at 180 in a fan assisted oven but at 190-200 in a non-fan assisted one. Leave to cook for at least 15 minutes before opening the oven door to check otherwise the cake will sink, hth.

    EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

.....and what colour scheme doesn't go with a brown sofa anyway? Unless they're painting the whole room grey *shudder*

Done that, and black and bright orange, against my strongest advice client, will not listen, after 4 days get phone call in sheepish voice, can you come and paint over it please :)

Yes, I used self raising flour. I bought it today with the caster sugar and the butter when I was in Tesco having a vision of me being a cake baker. There's more to this baking than meets the eye!

Is your oven a "fan" oven?? i found that when i bought a new cooker it was a fan oven and didn't take that into account when i made my carrot cakes - which always come out absolutely lovely even though i say so myself - needless to say my cake didn't get a chance to rise as the oven was too hot and it was also sticky in consistency. just a thought??

Hi guys - still catching up after doing Mr 3Dogs' Tax Return online, with 1 1/2 hours to spare   but just to keep you up to date, I've been to see Mam twice again today and she was fine - up in her chair, and showered and hair washed, when I got their lunch time, and they took her down to hairdressers when I left at 2.45pm. When my sister got there at 4.15 pm, Mam was sitting in the tv lounge with her hair all nice. My sister was giving her her dinner when I got there and we sat in the tv lounge while she ate her soup and dinner. Then, before we left, they got her back to bed and she had her nebuliser, by which time she was tired so I think she would have gone to sleep easily

So, I saw my Mam in a chair for the first time in 14 months :j :j

    Horrid, horrid and horrid!

My lounge/diner is now a lovely green colour, almost minty but very pale, with (pretty much) matching wallpaper along the longest wall. VERY pleased with it, even if I had to get Builder Dave from next door to re-do my botched attempt at wallpapering lol!

    Mint crisp whisper ?

least you gave it a go, keep trying at it and with practise you will soon be cross lining :D

seriously for a minute, if your painter says that colour wont suit this room with your carpet/curtains/furniture/cushions...probably listen to him/her.

the bright orange was a bathroom, tried to explain function of bath isn't just cleansing, the calming relaxing feeling you get when putting shoulders under hot water..won't happen with orange paint glearing in your eyes, not even matt, let alone the silk client choose, after mucho mucho patience finally agreed to soft cream matt...

the black room was a goth ( am i allowed to say that ?)
spoke as was, it will look crap and cost you twice as much to go back to sensible colour scheme, ignored..got paid twice as much to return to normal colour scheme...
