    Morning everyone.
    Bright sunshine and freezing cold.
Am also sitting with a large SD mug of Kenco ( unleaded )
Should be at work but awaiting Mr Postie with my new phone :j

3 dogs, the way your mum is being treated is nothing short of disgraceful.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Understand your fear of making complaint but at some point something will have to be done.

Might it be worth a chat with other visitors/relatives and making a class complaint ?

DSG reckon you got a hang over :) :rotfl:

    HC..spill ?

DS put on his new jacket and gloves this morning and tried to sneak his ipod out so he could use the built in speakers, sneaky little so and so.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hugs to all that need them.

Artha what you mentioned about retail shares, spot on, they can be among the best defensive plays along with utilities.
Am researching ARM @ the moment, smart phones and chips ;)

I know this is a VERY sad question indeed, but as I am sitting here with my cuppa with my morning musings, it has just occurred to me that Dr Who will be on again in a mere few weeks (Easter Sunday).
Does anyone know if that will kick off a new season?

(See. I told you it was a VERY sad question!!)

Not sad at all, my DD is a total addict, and it is very watchable. There aren't many programmes nowadays that all the family can enjoy together.
    Hope is not a strategy.

Thanks hun - unfortunately, there is little we can do. If you challenge the staff, they go all defensive and if we were to make an official complaint, well ....... Mam would still be there, under their care, and you just wonder what they might do :o:o

If was just as bad, or actually worse, when she was in the hospital for 3 weeks before being transferred. She went in when my brother, her full-time carer, found her slumped over her bed, having been sick. The paramedics identified the dark stuff in her vomit as dried blood, called coffee grinds, so she was admitted to hospital straight away. This was on the Tuesday, and she only got a drip fitted on the Friday after my sis and brother persistantly asking why she wasn't on one. They had done a 'swallowing test' on admission and she choked on a sip of thickened juice, so they put her on nil by mouth, but, I don't know if anyone has any experience of this thickener stuff, but I can assure you that I would choke on a sip of it too  I got up there on the Saturday, and it wasn't until the Friday of that week when we were finally allowed to see the doctor and ask what was going on, and we asked how she was receiving any nourishment, that they agreed to try her on a tube feed. Unsuccessful attempt at that on the Saturday, due to them fitting it late in day and her pulling it out during night, when it was supposed to be fitted in morning so they could keep an eye on it. Then, still on NIL by Mouth, on the monday the Sister told us that a carer had inadvertently given her some custard to eat, despite NIL by Mouth sign above her bed. We asked what Mam had done, and the Sister said that she'd eaten it all. We had been telling them that Mam was eating very well before admission, cereal and fruit in morning and 2 course evening meal, with sandwich during day and numerous biccies and cups of tea, without any problems, and in fact we had been secretely giving her desserts and soup when we visited as she was getting very week and we knew she could eat. So they eventually agreed to put her on soft foods, and she immediately ate them with no problems

Anyway, as I say before she was admitted she could get herself up, get dressed herself, come downstairs on the stair-lift, make herself a cup of tea when brother was out, go up and down to the toilet, and potter about the house, get undressed at night and get into bed. My brother looked after all her meds and gave her them as due. After 3 weeks in the hospital, she was transferred to this Continuing Are Unit and was on soft foods only, drinking with a straw only, doubley incontinent (coz they put a tube in her as she kept wanting a bedpan and left it in so long, she couldn't do without it), unable to stand let alone walk or popper about, and very very weak

It was bad enough in the hospital with us to visit and see to Mam and to make sure things were done, but I felt so sad for the ladies in there who had no family or friends to visit, and were left shouting for help and ignored, food and drink put where they couldn't reach it, and just dealt with in such an indignified way and spoken to like dirt at times :o:(:(:(:(

Morning all, have just been reading all about your mum, i feel so sorry for the way she has been treated and really wish i could put your mind at rest over the care she is receiving, luckily as you say she has one carer that does actually "care" about her so hopefully she will do the best for her she can. I use to work in care homes and worked my way up and was quite high up the ladder - i loved my job and spent more time at work than i did at home, but sadly it got to the point when the service user was no longer the main focus of my work - the budgets took over and all that ever counted was the money the company was taking in. The staff wages were cut, sick pay removed and all other benefits were also taken away, this was achieved when our home was taken over by a different company and new contracts were given to the staff. Sadly come the end most of the good staff left and we were only employing people on minimum wage, and as the saying goes if you pay peanuts - you get monkeys!! I stayed where i worked for another 18 months but eventually it got so bad that safety of the service users was compromised, i was working a twelve hour day and if people rang in sick i would also have to do a night shift getting 4 hours sleep in the morning when the next shift came in and then having to work all the rest of the day again, i complained about staffing levels, safety of service users and staff but still nothing was done, so sadly admitting defeat i left!! I now work privately for families where i am employed to be with my charge 24/7 this gives us a chance to build a proper relationship, i know the person i look after inside out, she is the main focus of my attention, yes we do have bad days - where i just have to walk away into another room and take a few deep breaths, as she has severe alzheimers and to be honest can be very hard work at times, but i wouldn't change my job for the world. My charge doesn't have a big bank balance but she had always told her family she never wanted to go into a home. Her care is funded by direct payments from care direct or social services (not sure exactly), i presume that these are the same people that pay for your mothers care home (thats if she doesn't fund it herself), and reading what you have said previously her home is already set up pretty well so that she could be looked after at home. Sorry for the rambling - i have just realised how much i have written, but what i am trying to say is maybe it would be worth you looking into this so she could go back to her own home and be looked after properly with the dignity and respect she deserves. I know this isn't always possible but maybe worth looking at - just an idea from someone that does "care"
All the best and big hugs xxxx

I found some of these a couple of days ago and thought i would put one through ss to just try it - it came up at £1.45!!! nearly had a heart attack so put it back, so imagine it must have been different bar codes - so is there any chance of having a barcode of your latest stash please.???

I tried a scanning quite a few things yesterday that a few people on here have mentioned but all came up as full price or were the correct price on SEL.

I did however find a "Flip video camera" SEL rtc at £75.00 but when checking; it scanned at £109.00 !! didn't get it but maybe useful if you are after one as you would get £68 DTD back so it would cost you
£41.00 this model comes in a white box and says it includes a free tripod. hopefully this will help someone xxx
