Thanks for that and it's artha by the way:D not to be confused with Arthur who is either associated with Arthur Daley or King Arthur in many peoples minds. I'm closer to Arthur Daley than King Arthur but I don't let that get in the way:rotfl:
I am sure I will reap the benefits one way or another with Tesco. Good dividends to give me money to go and buy glitches, whoopsies etc. What more could you ask for? :rotfl::rotfl:

Tinyshoes - you say it must be a good home my Mam is in? Sorry, no it's not. When she was first admitted, they didn't give her any meds for asthma which she has had since she got TB as a child, that is until my sis & I refused to go home until they give her a nebuliser, which they eventually did. Turned out they had missed it when transferring hospital meds to their records   We have had umpteen occassions when they have unplugged or switched off the air-flow mattress ending up with her lying flat on the bed frame slats  Lost count of times they put her table with her drink on out of reach  Also the number of times when we have arrived to find her very very distressed with all carers sitting in the lounge watching tv  I arrived once to find Mam diagonally across the bed with legs straight out on one side of the bed and head almost out the otherside. If she had more strength or had tried to turn over, she would have been out. The carers didn't take kindly to me calling them out of the tv lounge and missing the last game of the Wimbledon Men's final but got a shock when they saw her  She is at risk of aspiration (food/drink going down the wrong way) yet we have arrived to fins her lying almost flat with her food on the table in front of her but she couldn't see the top of the plate and risked choking on it  Mam has spent her life with lots of pillows, almost sitting up due to her asthma, yet they leave her almost flat, saying that she is comforatable like that  Comfortable?? with her breathing difficulties? What they meant is that they can't be bothered to keep checking in on her and lifting her up  Or the number of times she has been in agony with her feet through the bottom rails of the bed, with no-one checking her to put it right  and how they close her door 'to calm her down' when she gets shouty with her alzhiemers, despite the fact that the rooms get red hot and stuffy, when what they mean is, they shut the door so they can't hear her and won't sit with her to calm her down
Mam is 92, and deserves better than thisOne carer, and one alone, is lovely with her, but was told off this week for sitting with mam when things were quiet, coz they wouldn't know where she was if they needed her
The End-of-life Unit she is in had 20+ beds and is one section of a normal care home. Her unit is classed as still being in hospital and is funded by NHS, so is better stocked that the rest of the home, so the carers from there come along and 'borrow' things like cups, glasses, ice cream, incontinence pads, etc
Rant is over, but I stress, she is not in a good homeLovely surroundings but bad care

There were a few Nivea sets today but someone had opened them squashed them & generally mangled them
I got two in my extra, there were about 10 there all ripped and mangled, luckily I didn't want them as presents so I made sure I had all the contents and packaging and just explained to the SA when I got to the till! Mind you I did accidentally come home with an extra moisturising cream, despite counting it up twice, it was hidden in the bottom of the cracker - oops!HappyChappy84 wrote: »One more post before I head to bed. It's pointless keeping lost phones as all the owner has to do is drop a call to their network and it will never work as a phone again. If it's a smart phone you will also need the PIN number if one has been set up on it. However there are ways around this if you know what you're doing. If I lose my iPhone I have no hope of it ever being returned me as it's always locked so they wouldn't be able to get in to it to phone mum. Then I came across a handy little app.Details later.
In the meantime, I'll just leave this here...

We often talk about Karma on here don't we? Well, we live with fields and playing fields behind our bungalow and me and Mr 3Dogs have twice picked up very nice expensive mobiles when walking the dogs out there, and have dialled Mum or Dad or Home and got the phones back to the owners. Neither youth when calling to collect has said 'Thank you for taking the trouble'. In April last year, when travelling up to Newcastle to see Mam, I left my HTC Wildfire phone on the train, in First Class coach, and ................ no, I never got it back   Karma never came to visit that day

3 dogs I'm sorry to hear of the way they're treating your mum, I worked in a couple of care homes when I was a teenager and while there is normally some things that can be missed despite best efforts, this is obviously not what's happening here, no way should it be of this frequency or severity!
If it's NHS funded then you should be able to use the NHS grievance channels, starting with patient liaison, or if you've tried all avenues of complaint already, then writing to your MP can sometimes work or contacting primary care services direct (or the equivalent if it doesn't come under primary care).
The home, if private in part at least, should have a mission statement, you can use this as something to back your case up when talking to the care home manager or PCT. Either way they're just being lazy and in either of the care homes I worked in, you would only find staff sitting in the lounge either during mealtimes helping or during a night shift where there is nothing to do but keep quiet until you're needed. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023
