  • Do you have a scanner in you local? Last time I got some wine on Dtd, I took one of each bottle that was showing an OOD SEL to the scanner and checked, only 1 (out of 8) gave a pos. DTD. I only took 2 bottles of that wine as I did not want to raise suspicion (it's up to you what you feel comfortable with though) HTH.

Yes I have a scanner in my local!! (it's great:D for the next few days only until I go back to a no-scanner store. Will be a shock to the system) I'll check the bottles and the list, if it gives a DTD then I'll probably pick up a few as a treat for my parents :) but nothing too high probably 3 as a max.

Something that I have noticed and been annoyed with these last 2 weeks especially in one specific store, people are filling up their trollies with reduced stuff at about 6:45pm then have a wander around the store and bingo the guy with the reduction gun is back and they empty their trolley and get him to reduce their stuff again, some even have the brass balls to show him to their trolley so the stuff doesn't even move. I got fed up with it the night that I went and complained at CS, was told this wasn't allowed and she would speak to the relevant team leaders.

Let's at least all get a fair chance at the reductions, I say.

:o:oMust admit that I've done this once or twice but only with a one or two items in a basket. I was a bit embarrassed when I approached the really nice guy who often does the reductions to do this. He frowned and said that's really naughty but laughed and said everybody does it, laughed again, and reduced the items and said don't do it again (with a wink). Hope this doesn't make me a bad person:)

It's not that nice TBH!!! Quite small...you'd have to save 20p's!!
There's no scanner in that store and I had to take it to the CS for a price check.
When the CA brought the prices up i saw her turn to her colleague and murmer something...."Aye aye" I thought, she's going to try and nab this for herself so I piped up " I can tell from your face that it is the price i thought it was....Lovely!!"
The 2nd CA asked if there were anymore because apparently a pregnant lady had cleared the whole store of all this type of thing a week or so ago.....

Now, I know of the three regulars who visit the Plymouth stores and none of us are preggers as far as I know.....so I think we've been lurkered there girls!!

The 2nd SA took half of the keyrings (we had 4 each) but gave me the thumbs up....so I've got a mate there if I want to check prices again!!

    which store was this?
    :)

I think I am right in saying 6 bottles gives an additional 5% off. If you gonna go for DTD in a store you don't do your main shop in, buying 6 bottles may be the best option. I would suggest you check with regulars on this thread as they will be able to say if the store will go for it or trout you. HTH.

Evening guys - Mam was sleepy today when I went to see her at lunchtime. She ate her dinner and pud but very slowly, and I am sure she would have been going to sleep when I left. My sister was there tonight for dinnertime and Mam's chest wheezy again, but otherwise ok. I am hoping to see Mam in her chair tomorrow as they take her down to the in-home salon in a wheelchair now. This would be the first time I have seen her in a chair for 14 months, so I am looking forward to that :j :j They have only started to put her in her chair in the last few months, and it makes a change for her, especially when they wheel her up to the dining room, etc - much better than the same 4 walls she has been staring at for the previously 10 or 11 months, and the change of position is good too as she is so sore with being in bed for this long :(

    :)

    L££ Mill.
Most of the staff there are really nice. One of the CA staff upstairs is a bit of a misery but I've never had a problem buying 1p items there and I always go through the manned tills
Does Transit Way (if I ever find it!!) have scanners?
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.

Tinyshoes - Sorry to hear the bad news about your mum.
Hope you can do something nice together for her birthday.
Same from me too, on both counts xx

Thanks for all of your lovely posts, I did multi quote more of you but forget you can only quote 3 at a time. Hope those who I have missed don't mind me not reading back to find them. :o

Looks like I am going to have to lay on a little buffet as mum informs me she is having visitors tomorrow evening. She has never had any other family apart from me, OH and my DDs see her on her birthday in all the years I can remember but guess her situation has changed that. Going to sound a bit selfish now, but we usually either cook a roast or take her out for a meal but that is not going to happen now as by the time her visitors have gone she will be too tired for anything.

I don't know if we would have got her out but would have been nice to have the option. :( Thing is these visitors could come in the day when DD3 is at school and OH at work as neither of them work. Why they are leaving it until 6pm to come I have no idea. :(
