Because SHE herself believes this to be true - so I suppose I am trying to stress to her that it HAS!! She believes that they have written it off and has wondered why she now has a bill which has landed on her doorstep.

    Hang on...............

There was a box on the 'then' IS form asking if i wanted the CSA involved and i marked NO so i had a rep from the IR come to my hosue and see me abotu it, when she asked me i said i didnt want the CSA involved as me and my partner had an arrangement set up and that he was payign me £80 a month for our child and if the baby needed anythign else - clothes etc he was providing for that too which she said was fair enough and it is better to come to a mutual agreement between yourselfs rather than have a 3rd party involved in most cases.

So Yes the CSA and IS knew that we had this prior arrangement and we signed letters/notes saying the arrangement was in place.

So not only did 3 goverment agencies know about this according to the op but all 3 gave misleading information.

Now call me synical or in fact anything you like but i find this very hard to believe.

Judging by some of the people I have spoken to sorting out DH's money this could be true.

Who are the IR? The Inland Revenue? They aren't involved unless it is tax credits, and they don't get involved in CSA/Income Support issues.

So if it WAS Inland Revenue, they don't have anything to do with this issue! This could explain it, but it could be that OP means that IS came to visit - in which case it should have been explained that any money received from the boyfriend for maintenance would be knocked off the Income Support - was this explained to her? If not and she can prove it, then it is clearly official error as the law states quite clearly that this is what MUST happen.
