I am so pleased I just found this thread. Today I visited opticians today to have my brand new varifocal specs adjusted slightly. I have been looking up loads of stuff on MSE since, but everything is foggy, wiped eyes, cleaned specs twice, and found I could read MSE without them, was all ready to go back to optician tomorrow to complain. Well I will try it for a while, but I cannot keep taking specs off to read here and popping them back on to look across the room, so thank you at least for giving us the stretchy option. BTW, I have been using vari lenses for 15 years plus. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

It looks great with the streched skin, the fixed width looks terrible. I am liking the changes and glad to have stretched it out! Maybe you should do a member poll to find out what the masses would prefer?0

Fixed width...? Whos idea was that?
All well and good if you have a massive 22" srceen but it just makes it difficult on a 10" Netbook.
I thought fixed width websites went out with "Internet Explorer only" websites!!!0 -
Guess I'm in a minority. I prefer the fixed width on my 1280x1024 19" display, there's more gap between links on the RHS and the scroll bar so I'm less likely to clip a link when heading for the scroll bar with my graphics pen. I've lost count of the times I've called up the forum team page when I really wanted to scroll down ;-)
I'll have to see what it's like on my netbook though, that ain't so wide.0 -
Dear Martin, please let us have the Big Stretchy Forum back, PLEASE!
This is how it looks on my screen....553780080 -
I've just changed to stretchy masthead, complete waste of 40% of width of laptop screen otherwise and thread titles doubling up onto 2 lines rather than a single line on the stretchy option - now back to being much easier to read. Glad the option was there, thanks.
Oo just seen the post above this -my screen was exactly the same until i changed it back - lots of blank white space....GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
