The cap should be 13K not 26k. Who elects these muppets?

Here here! If some families have to cope on minimum wage why the hell should those who can't be bothered to get off their backsides be given such a ridiculous amount of money!? £26k?! are they for real? I would love to be bringing home that kind of cash!
Now a proud home owner after saving a deposit for 2 years :j

The way people are talking, you'd think every unemployed person/family got £26k+. They don't!!!! Most unemployed get no where near £26k. Let's just keep it in perspective.

Does the £26K quoted include benefits such as DLA? I assume not as it is not mean tested, but it is likely that those family with numerous children are also in receipt of it for one child if not two which could add another £5K a year or more....officially making them high tax payers....

Think I read that the move would affect 67000 families. That sounds like a lot to me.

Yes I accept that some families may have to move to cheaper areas - tough! Working families have to. Many London commuters have to pay huge train fares every day because they can't afford to live in the city.
So, because of house-price inflation, and perhaps the fact that you as a couple have 4 kids due to your ex-partners leaving, you now hit the new benefit cap.

Instead of living month-month, with no savings, as you're already having to make up the balance between the LHA rate and your rates, you suddenly can't afford your house.

    Now, what happens?

There is no proposal for helping people move.

In addition, if you do lose your home, the council has a duty to house you.
This may be in temporary accommodation.
    Which may well exceed 25K.

A couple with 6 kids may be hit by the cap. So they become two single parent families with 3 kids a piece. How does this save the government money?

I thought the Tories wanted to promote keeping families together.

Sorry you are right. It is Society's fault that people can't cope unless they get bigger hand outs than lots of working people earn. No-one said life was easy. Best we continue to let the State pick up the tab.
