Did you pick your dog

The first dog I chose for myself actually chose me! Friends took me to a rescue centre with the idea of getting maybe 2 dogs to be companions for each other. When we walked past one particular cage this tan boy, like a small scale labrador ran up and down howling at me. We stood away from the run and watched......he didn't do it to anyone else!
So I took him home plus a boxer cross girl who had been in the kennels for 5 years- the staff wanted her desperately to have a loving home. Toby & Tessa- I had them for 5 years, sadly they didn't live to a great age but they were lovely, whenever I took them down the street the children would come out to shake their paws or make a fuss of them.
They've been gone for over 25 years but I still have rescue dogs and would be lost without them.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Not long after I posted this Rudi sadly got loose and was killed in an accident.
We now have Theo and Hendrix as no matter how sad we were, we knew there will always be dogs needing homes.

Sorry for your loss adouglasmhor. My tricolour would be an escape artist given the chance. Not that she would run off she would just wander where her nose leads her.
We bought our two dogs from a breeder. We called on an off chance they had any tricolour cavaliers and they had two. We called in not long after they had been fed and they were both sleeping their food off. Millie was the smaller of the two pups and i fell in love with her face and from the moment i saw her i knew she was mine.
Two years later i wanted a 'sister' for her and as hubby wanted a 'blenheim' we called in to the breeder again on the off chance they had any blenheim pups. The breeder again had two girls and she placed both of them in a puppy pen. I didnt look closely because i'd said hubby could choose (and i'd have chosen the smaller of the two given the choice). Hubby put his arm in the pen and just the one came wandering over for a sniff. From that day on she became 'his' dog.
Millie is 'mine' and Lucy is 'his' (though truth be told we love them both equally). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
