What a gorgeous day and how lovely it has been to get washing dried on the line, really looking forward to going to bed with my lovely clean sheets. The tumble drier never smells the same does it?
Got a few seeds sown and need to get on with weeding and clearing beds, think it will be colder later this week but at least no rain forecast for the forseeable future!0 -
Hi all..wow another beautiful day...cold but lovely.
The sun is doing my chickens the world of good..4 eggs a day..i can't keep up..not moaning though.
Katiep23..you are right there is nothing like line dried sheets and washing ...fresh and free.
We have been weeding little bits and bobs...
MLW..thank you hun...i love my family and always want the best for them..o its a shame about the hyacinths..they are so gorgeous...i can't have lillies in the house..my eyes swell up and i seriously cannot breathe...shame as they are so pretty.
The sweet shop was a blast..they loved looking in the glass jars and seeing the mice and piggies in huge boxes...they loved it..it did cost us a small fortune though..but its not often we go in there so it was a real treat..
I did have my evening off...but me and hubby had to have a serious chat about his health,he has lost a lot of weight(to the point where someone we know asked if he was seriously ill)..he has been having 3-4 migraines a week and his arthritis is really hurting now.He has sometime off coming up and we have to think what to do...he cannot go on like this..he is so unhappy and i think slightly depressed about it all.
I think the stress of the job has got to him..its high pressure and tbh they want blood from you for just above minimum wage...he never moans but its obviously taking a toll on him..he told me the only joy is coming home to us all and hearing about our day.
I feel so bad and am close to tears as i write this..i just don't know what to do to help him.
will keep an eye on him.
love you all

Hi FTM it sounds as though your DH should really go and see the doctor, I know men do not do this unless seriously pushed into it, so you will probably have to be very persuasive. I know that migraines can often be caused by stress and pressure and if he has arthritis does he take any medication on a regular basis? if he does he might need to have the type changed and the only one who can do that is the doctor. If he has some leave due to him it might help to give him a break by being at home with all of you and doing 'normal'things. If it was He Who Knows in the same situation I would push him until he went and see what the Doc says. I know he had the promotion at work a little while ago, was he happier when he was not supervising and could you manage on the income if there was an opportunity for him to drop down a level at work? That is the only solution that pops readily into mind at the moment. Keep your pecker up girlie, you are a strong little family and you'll see yourselves through this blip, stay in touch, pm me if you want to say it on dark days, I'm always at the end of the computer, Love and hugs Lyn xxx.0

FTM - :grouphug:. It's really awful when our normally big strong men are suffering, especially when there may be something more to it than the things you already know about. As MrsLM says though, it could be something which a simple change of medication would make a huge difference to. My friend is a pharmacist and is horrified at how many people are prescribed the same medication for years when, in her opinion, it may not be as effective as it once was and may be causing more problems than it solves. I do hope you can persuade him to make an appointment soon.
I found a old fashioned sweet shop locally a few weeks back. It is run by a delightful gentleman who was more than happy to make a box for me to include with my father's birthday present. He filled it with little bags of treacle toffees, chocolate gingers, creamy toffees, blackcurrant and licquorice boiled sweets, soor plooms and a few other treats. It was so good to see all those jars lining the walls and even nicer to see that they were all British made. Seems there must still be a few old fashioned sweetie factories around which is nice.I also noticed he had jars of cherry lips and floral gums which are my absolute weakness so I may have to go back soon. I usually buy hubby and Easter Egg but a nice box of goodies from there would be supporting local businesses not the big guys who are mostly foreign now.
I'm planning to work from home tomorrow so I'm hoping it will be another sunny day so I can get some washing out on the line in my lunch break. Until last year I only had a whirly drier which was such a waste of the amount of wind we get at the top of the hill so when we extended the garden I got a full drying green with 4 poles. I'm sure some people must think Im mad but I get so much pleasure from seeing my washing on the line, flapping away:)0 -
Hi FTM just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you all and hoping that you are not feeling so stressed by now. Hope MrFTM is feeling a bit less uncomfortable with his arthritis and that he's managed to take a little time out from work and got a respite from the presssures. Keep your pecker up lovie, you're a strong little unit and more than able to sort the problems out, Cheers and hugs, Lyn xxx.0

Hi MLW..thank you..he is so relaxed at the moment he is almost asleep on sofa...he has been to doctors and told them it all...think he used it as a vent more than anything..his blood pressure is up a bit and the migraines are stress related...even on his week off that bloody place is ringing..so i have unplugged the house phone and switched off the mobiles..awful aren't i...he has had a blood test and been given some more pills for his stomach problem. So fingers crossed he will now get some help .
We have spent the past few days being busy..he has set up new greenhouse and me and the tots have baked and also moved the kitchen about and set up a pantry..sad i know but i am happy with it.
Tomorrow i am at the dentist having a cap fitted..dreading it to be honest its not my fave place to be.
Then we are going shopping..i think maybe a little retail therapy is in order..probably wilkos for seeds and some CS.
We are also going to treat us all to a take away(wash my mouth out and forgive me for sinning against OS)..but it will be greatly appreciated..something i haven't cooked myself total luxury.
SM..your right..i hate it when my big fella is like this..nothing is right without his smile and laugh.
Right i had best go..i am tired and not looking forward to the dentist..yuk.
thank you both
love

FTM you're a sensible girlie, well done for keeping the phones incommunicado!! Good luck at the dentists, not my favourite place either but part of necessary maintenance, yes? Glad Mr FTM is feeling a little better about things after a rest, even more glad that he went to the GP, so he's a sensible laddie as well!!! Enjoy your retail therapy, enjoy your take away meal, you are hereby absolved of any feelings of guilt that may occur from any of these, would you like a note? Stay strong lovie, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

FTM - enjoy your takeaway. We all deserve a non MSE treat now and again - especially after a dentist visit! Glad Mr FTM is a bit better and well done for turning the phones off. We're all just a number when the chips are down so I'm nowhere near as flexible and accomodating with my employers when I'm on holiday as I used to be.
No sign of my "proper" laptop coming back yet so still using the netbook which is keeping my surfing to a minimum.
I'm off to sew a button on my favourite coat as it fell off this morning - thankfully before I left the house so I changed coat.
May be back tomorrow night - I may even have the big screen back!0 -
Just popped in to say hi -I typed a long message then lost it so this one will be much shorter:o
My spring bulbs continue to poke through and I'm sure every day will bring progress now so I'm watching them eagerly. I'm so impatient but really looking forward to some colour in the new garden.
I've had a mending weekend - hems, buttons and tears. Just finished them when hubby donated a seriously torn boilersuit to the pile. Once it is washed that will be a few hours work I think - maybe somewhere around Wednesday or Thursday evening.
My laptop still isn't back - I'm waiting a quote as it apparently needs a new motherboard which sounds expensive. I seem to be going through things at an alarming rate just now:(
My kitchen smells good right now - I have a huge pot of potato and leek soup on, the breadmaker is churning away and there's a victoria sponge almost ready to leave the oven. Hubby requested a soup and pudding dinner tomorrow night and I have lots of cream to use up so I figure, soup, homemade bread and victoria sponge with cream will be just right. It may well be the same menu on Tuesday night too!
Enjoy the last remnants of the weekend all.0 -
Hi all...
MLW..thanks for absolving me of guilt b ut i am afraid it was not meant to be..our lovely takeaway was closed and doesn't open til this sunday..nevermind we saved the money and will have one at a later date.
The work situation is going downhill..today he didn't get paid all his wages...am furious and waiting to see what bull carp they come out with...shoddy place and total incompetent mangers..and i hope they read this.
SM..o i hope your laptop is working again soon..my little crocus's have popped up and my mini daffodils too..think the weather this weekend might set them back though.
I am making my own bread everyday..so nice to watch the tots get excited for the smell of it and my oh my how they wolf it down.
Our son is going to start doing more odd jobs for us..he is making some greenhouse staging and a little potting bench for me and the girls..also he has offered to paint my pantry for me and re-line the shelves for me..bless him.
I have been picked to give out books for world book night...so excited ..i have spoken to the local vicar who was more than happy to accept them for his congregation.
I have started Fern on a little project about Florence Nightingale..and have bought 4 scrap books from wilkos...thses will be our WOW books..the idea is we choose one piece of work that they are proud of or have worked hard on for that week and stick it in our WOW book..1 is for english the other for math..so 2 each.
Right well i hope your all ok and going to stay warm this weekend..
love
