  • It's been a really lovely day here today, first time I've been warm, properly warm for months. We sat in the garden in the sun to eat our lunch and it was blissful. The greenhouse and polytunnel have been open all day and I've watered some of the smaller plug plants twice! Beginning to wind down into the chill of evening now so we're closing windows in the house but might not need to light the stove as we have done for the past few days. Walking Cookie with Sue and Charlie retriever this afternoon was done without a coat because the temperature hit 18C 'twas wondercrump. Hope you have all had nice days too, mine included a hand made card by Zebra mail, was lovely! xxx.

Been glorious here today again. Cooler, perhaps about 13 with a fair breeze but bright and sunny. Unfortunately the neighbouring farmer has been speaking slurry since before 7 and the prevailing wind is coming our way so every door and window has had to be firmly closed and my sheets had to be tumble dried. I learned that hard way last year when I arrived home to find him spreading next to us. It took 4 90 degree washes with huge amounts of lenor to remove the smell from my bed linen. Very frustrating to see an empty washing line on a day like this!

Hosting dinner tonight. Was expecting parents and my sister and her partner. Sis text me just after 4 to ask if she had mentioned she was working so they wouldn't be coming - no she hadn't - grrrr. Looks like hubby will be eating leftovers tomorrow night. I'm away overnight on Monday so at least it will be an easy meal for him!

Hope everyone enjoys the good weather - I hear there is a change coming mid week. The wet stuff is making a return:(

Just a small celebration from me - I got the job! I really can't believe it. It's going to be a lot more work, but a better working environment and the pay's much better too. Very excited to start in May.

fuddle Your bedroom is just lovely, and the door looks beautiful :)

karcher Wishing you strength, courage and the contentment you need. When things were very bad I found it helpful to remind myself that a time would come when things would be better.

  • Afternoon all, we had a nice swim this morning, I managed 10 lengths this time and felt much happier, I seem to have found my confidence again. I try for 2 x extra lengths each time we go. Just had a nice walk with Sue and Charlie retriever and am waiting on the arrival of Maisie who I will walk then she's with us until her dad comes in at 7.30 ish. It's been a dry day today and not cold but the sky periodically clouds over and the temperature drops so it's been a put on an extra layer, take off the extra layer, put it back on again etc. We found the first open bluebells on the footpath this afternoon, and mine on the front lawn under the apple trees are showing blue but the flowers aren't open yet. The damson tree has some blossom open and there are pear trees in bloom in gardens in the village but not many bees so I don't know how much fruit we'll all get set. Think I'm going to be tired after walking Maisie and I think I'll sleep well tonight!!!

Thank you everyone. I've had some mixed reactions at my current job, especially from my boss, but I suppose that is to be expected. Everyone whose opinion I value has been pleased for me. Looking forward to getting started now!
