  • Hi KAZ - sorry to hear your poor DD isn't healing as fast as you would like, hope she is a bit more comfortable today and hasn't been pulled about too much. Hopefully by next week you'll see a definate improvement and it will start knitting together, will keep all possible crossed for you, so if you hear of silly accidents in Hampshire, you'll know who it is!!! Poor lurcher and I have just got soaked to our respective skins - rotton weather, it was only drizzling when we started out, then, when we got to the park, some fool turned the tap full on YUKKKKK! At least I can get changed, poor old Doc is laying on a pile of towels looking sad. Keep your pecker up both of you, it sounds as though she's being a little champion over all this, she's a good' un! Cheers Lyn x.

    Hi all...

Kaz..so sorry to hear about your dd's arm..sending hugs her way..fingers crossed it will get better and the pain will ease..

So i have been MIA..well actually locked in the kitchen doing battle with a paint brush and tile paint..and for the encore the cupboard doors got painted too..it looks so big and fresh with just them painted...i have ordered new door knobs from a lovely seller on *bay who actually did a custom sale for me..and didn't charge me too much for it either..will be recommending her very highly..its still a bit higgeldy piggeldy in their but i can see the results i want coming together now..
We have had a sort of carp week..fern is ill again and has got a red rash all over her face and arms..her face looks swollen and very sore..been to doctors and he just said its a virus..the school are concerned as it just came up in a matter of hours..still didn't ring me though...
I have ran down my freezer and cupboards so i can re-stock next week..we have had some interesting meals..meatballs with tomato sauce and mash..sweet potato and fish fingers..smoked haddock with bubble and squeak..sound weird but very nice i must admit...
Think i may have to take our poor patch (whippet) to the vets..he keeps escaping down the garden..its a game with him..but today i happened to just look out the window and i saw him at the bottom of the garden and for some reason he literally fell in the pond..he didn't jump ..he just seemed to fall in..i went running out to get him and he was ok ..had the feel sorry for me look on his face..it was funny but i am worried about him..he shouldn't just fall over..poor patrick(nickname)..
My son has been back to doctors as his ears are still hurting him..they gave him more antibiotics..he is in a lot of pain still..
Hubby is on antibiotics for a chest infection and infected sinuses..so looks like mum is the only one doing it all...lol..
right got to go its bathtime for 2 little tots..
    love to you all

Kaz and FTM -Oh dear - things aren't going well for either of you. I think some good luck is required all round. I'll have a look and see if I have any spare pixie dust, or failing that just have some wine - it always helps me:)

I think we are in for a miserable weekend up here - it has been ghastly and cold all week so I don't expect any change.

Hubby is going to be working on the garden extension this weekend so I've been told he needs a scale drawing of what I want the finished product to look like. I'm sitting here with graph paper and a calculator - takes me back a few years I can tell you! Now I wouldn't mind but he's not really a follow things to the last inch person- more of a "roughly" man so I'm not sure how much value this will add but I have to show willing and do my bit!

The replacement dishwasher was due to come today but the courier couldn't find me on his sat nav so just took it back and won't redeliver until Tuesday - not impressed with John Lewis delivery companies. Blasted sat nav - what happened to a good old fashioned map??

FTM - do you take on commissions - I could do with some painting being tackled and I was thinking about buying replacement handles for a chest of drawers that needs a facelift. Hadn't thought of fleabay so thanks for the prompt - I will look there.

Anyway off back to my graph paper - if only I had some colouring in pencils then I could colour code it. He asked for detail - he's about to get it, I've just remembered where I have some coloured pens, there's no stopping me now:D

  • FTM - so glad they are on the mend collectively, you have had a very busy and productive day haven't you? I wish I had someone delivering rabbits, my idea of heaven! Have a lovely Princess Tea Party with Iris and enjoy the dressing up bit as well. We have a lovely sunny day as well and have been out to Exbury Gardens which is renowned for Rhodedendrons and Azaleas and was magnificent. So much colour , it was beautiful. Have my lovely DD2 and her partner here for the weekend, so are eating out tonight at our lovely local very nice too! Stay safe, stay well Cheers Lyn x.

Ftm, I'm pleased to hear that your crew are all in the mend now, it's worrying when they are not 100% isn't it?
It's beautiful outside today which is great as we're off out to an open air party tonight. We may not be there for long though as DS is at a party now and I've put dd to bed in my bed and made her a nest as she's not feeling very well. Tummy ache. I think she's exhausted as her army's hurting her a fair bit. I was saying to one of the mum's at school yesterday that I wished she would just get into our bed and have a good sleep. She can't curl up in her bed because it's not wide enough to take her cast :(.
DH has cut the lawn and it looks a million times better. It was so overgrown but I just couldn't get to it due to the weather. Hope to be able to keep on top of it now.

  • Afternoon all, haven't we had a lovely weekend weatherwise? We have just had lunch in the garden having had such a lovely couple of days with DD2 and her OH - have just waved them off to go back home and loaded up the dishwasher ready to go later on. KAZ - I hope your poor DD managed to find a comfy position to sleep in, its bad enough hurting that much when you are an adult, but poor little pet I hope she is soon on the mend. Sending lots of hugs and happy thoughts your way. FTM - really good idea to get a CD player for the tots, when mine were younger they had loads of audio casettes and loved to go off to sleep listening, also liked to have them playing when we were on a long car journey, whiled away many happy hours that way. Am just waiting for it to cool down a little outside (how good does that sound?) and will give my boy his afternoon walkies. Hope you have all had lovely weekends Cheers Lyn x .

I'm so glad someone had nice weather all weekend - I hope you enjoyed it. Yesterday was nice here, although a bit breezy but today we are underwater. My newly dug out garden extension is just a half acre pool of mud now. Hubby has been glaring at it all afternoon. Normally I don't see him at all at the weekend (we have the perfect marriage - he does his thing and I do mine!) as he is under a tractor, truck or JCB covered in oil or moving animals around but it was so bad today he come home about 3pm and has been like a bear with a sore head ever since!

The good news is I managed to draw a plan, the not so good news is he had 1000 reasons why some of it wouldn't work so we are doing things his way - men?!

Actually yesterday was a bit of a nightmare - my first disaster was when I wheeled our 9 month old lawnmower to the top of the driveway and headed inside to empty the washing machine. I was just taking my boots off at the door when I heard a horrendous crash and turned to see the mower tumbling over and over down the driveway (which is on a slope). I couldn't get the boots on fast enough so hurtled barefoot down the drive to get to it. Needless to say it emptied of petrol and oil and now has some scrapes and bashes but thankfully a few hours later it started again. Hubby was livid at me and I'm sure I haven't heard the end of that.

Disaster number 2 came less than 10 minutes later when I was pegging a white damask table cover on the whirly dryer. It seemed to tip to the side and as I pulled it back the whole stem thing snapped off about a foot from the ground. Cue lots of wet washing on some very grubby slabs, a torrent of shocking language and a few pure tantrum tears and the whole lot having to be washed again. So now I have no outside dryer-I hope I get my washing poles up soon (even if it is in the muddy pool!)

Disaster number 3 was at dinner time - I had bought 2 pieces of smoked haddock (£6.60 ) and I was snipping down the centre with a little pair of scissors to remove the bones when my left index finger seemed to get in the way and I snipped - really hard. Blood everywhere (even on the fish which had to be rinsed) and one very impatient hubby as we tried to stem the bleeding. Well, they say things come in threes so fingers crossed (I'll try to cross the bandaged one) that is the end of it!

Because it was nice yesterday some of the tomato plants went outside for the day as I think pure sunshine has to be better than through the window. They are now safely back in and huddling together on the ledge.

I made a batch of twinks hobnobs tonight and a huge pot of mince. If it's going to be wet and miserable for a day or two then we will need mince and tatties at some point to keep us going.

At least I can say there is never a dull moment in my life at the moment!

  • Oh SM - what a horrible day for you and rain too - Many Many Big Hugs are being sent your way and I do hope your poor finger has stopped bleeding by now. I don't know why but we all get the odd difficult day where once it starts downhill it seems to pick up speed as the day goes on , lets hope that is your ration of nasties for the forseeable future. Your beautiful new garden will give you so much satisfaction when it is up and running and you'll be able to laugh at roly poly mowers when you're sitting out in it with a nice cuppa and some homemade cake!!!! Have a good week Cheers Lyn x .
