Kaz2904: commiserations on your lost birthday and "get-well soon" wishes to your little girly. Small children are a lot like cats: you can practically see the bones mending it happens so quickly. She will be feeling a bit sorry for herself for a bit but that could be the result of being administered the morphine. I'm sure the experience was more difficult for you as a very concerned bystander than it was for her. Poor little mite! I can feel a handsome treat coming on for having been so brave.0

Kaz - Happy belated birthday:bdaycake:. You will just have to be like the queen and choose another date and celebrate then although personally I like the idea of my age not moving if I ignore the day:) I hope your daughter is feeling much better soon. that sounds very scary and I'm sure once it's all settled down you deserve a birthday drink or three.
FTM - :grouphug:. I'm lucky to have a great relationship with my family but sadly the parents in law and their daughters are another matter which I won't go into. It hurt hubby dreadfully but we have each other, my folks and many friends for support so it's their loss.
Is it still raining south of the border? The weather seems to be pretty shocking - not great here either but certainly no floods just cold and windy. I arrived at my mothers yesterday to find her mowing the lawn on her little ride on mower wearing gloves, a big jacket and one of those hats with the furry ear flaps which tie under the chin. What a glamour puss she is - still wearing her lipstick and perfume though!
I defrosted whoopsied cream yesterday and made butter last night which I'm delighted with - not sure how long it will last though! It's also left me with some buttermilk - it's in the fridge but will be the end of the week before I could make anything (like scones) - will it keep until then?
Kittie - I had a cabbage last week which was sort of triangular and pointy (and very dark green) - would that be a Hipsi? It was very nice and I would buy again.
I'm off to empty the dishwasher now - if I don't hubby will come and do it but it's amazing how many items that he leaves on the worktops as he claims not to know where they go - almost 16 years in this house and he's still not sure..........0 -
Oh yes - it's still raining as south of the border as you can get without being in the Solent, and it's being a mite too enthusiastic about it as well - I'm sure it is raining with attitude today! The only things down her to be enjoying it are a small flock of starlings that have been foraging on the waterlogged lawn since dawn and doing very nicely on the worm front. We had a lovely dry and sunny day yesterday and managed to cut lawns and get washing dry outside so I can't complain too much - but oh I do so want it to be spring very soon!!!!!!! Cheers Lyn.0

'Scuse me butting after weeks of silence since first "joining" the thread, but I'm a little bit further west than MrsLurcherwalker here and it's proper British rain here this morning! The sort you could dance in, if the ground weren't so soggy... warm & very gentle. My chickens haven't huddled miserably at the back of the shed & looked at me with baffled consternation when I opened the door, but charged out into it shaking their feathers in glee. There's a whole different feel to it - much, much warmer. Fingers crossed it meanders gently up to you all very soon.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

FTM, I read your post yesterday and it struck such a chord. You come across as someone who has learned from life and because of that you are the hub of your own loving strong family unit. Now that is one hell of a positive from a negative
This afternoon is looking better, although constant rain again this am, I so pity the unlucky ones who are in flood territory or who have to work outside. I had a glimmer of sun yesterday and managed to get 6 tomatoes planted up in grobags outside, covered with pop ups from lakeland`s sale 2 years ago. They are good because they have loops on the bottom, through which I slotted canes under the bags. I also use 3 cane supports per bag so it is a palaver to set up but they are stable in strong winds. The tomatoes so needed to get out, they already look stronger
My mind is working all ways re my chilli plants, I have no more undercover pvc or polycarb space. I was getting changed this morning and had a thundering idea, wow, we have an overhanging solar shading roof on the sunny side, which has a verandah under, to which the bedrooms link via french doors. Now why on earth didn`t I think of it sooner, it doesn`t get wet and is ideal for sheltering chillis from the constant rain. Oh thank goodness, I hate wasting plants that I have grown
My courgettes are getting big too quickly too. Arghhh

mine never lookes as pristine as they were planted closer ie 3 in a 3` space. They are certainly nice cabbages0 -
It's absolutely throwing it down here! Took DS to school this morning and it is waterlogged on the playing field. The drains are overflowing on the way down the hill. I think that down in the dip is going to be bad later, up by me we tend to just see it all pouring off the top of the hill so we have running water to deal with rather than sitting water. Not sure which is more destructive.
DH made tea last night and it's taken me an hour this morning to sort out the kitchen from his mess. I think he used very dish I own plus pots and pans. Left the wooden rolling pin in water all night  he also left herbs and spices all over the kitchen side. I can't understand why he never puts them away, he leaves them on the side underneath the cupboard they live in. It's not that hard surely?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Secondly..thank you ladies..i am a gentle soul easily hurt but i keep getting up again..i have my beautiful girls and my devilishly handsome son and a total gorgeous husband..they keep me going..and my lovely in-laws are a total godsend to me..such amazing people..your right i can't choose my family but i can choose my friends..and i have amazing friends..that includes all of you..so thank you.
Right normal service is resumed..i have apologized to the head for swearing at him..he accepted it thankfully..but i have told him i am definitely removing fern from the school register to teach her at home..he was a little rattled by it and asked why..so i told him i wasn't happy with the way she is almost ignored and has had the same book for weeks..he said it would change and guess what surprise surprise she still had the same bloody book..so if talking to him hasn't changed anything then i seriously doubt anything else will change...

We got our spuds in yesterday plus all the strawberries and lettuce..so the garden is starting to look productive and not a huge heap of dirt...the iris bulbs i planted have sprouted and look good..our cabbage seedling s are doing well and so are the sprouts..i have some cabbage left in freezer from last yr..had it yesterday and its still good..bit of butter when its been drained and bingo...
Have to go on ebay later and get a magnifying glass for tots so we can look at bugs and other exciting stuff haha..got some scrap books too..one for indoor and one for outdoor..
Fern is turning into a right little crafter...she has finished her sewing and now wants to have a go on my machine to make little sachets of lavender for her drawers..bless her she is so sweet...
right go to go me and iris are having a tea party..we went to the CS and found a tin box with a little tin tea set inside 75p..it needed a clean but she is so besotted with it...must be ancient but in good condition..
thank you all
love

Bless you FTM - its a real privelege to be considered a friend, you shine bright in a difficult world and make it a better place for us all , keep up our spirits and make us smile, it's us who should say thank you! KAZ hope the poor little injured one is feeling much better today and that you have been able to catch up on your sleep. It is never easy dealing with injuries to kids and I can really understand the constant re-runs that go round and round in your head. I hope you are feeling much better too. Have a good day everyone Cheers Lyn x. P.S. It would appear to have stopped raining - am typing this very quietly in case the weather fairy hears and starts it off again, perhaps the lurcher will get a dry afternoon walk woohoo!!!!!!!0

kaz, I hope your little one is feeling much better today
Just a quickie to say that I have bought lots of garden fleece and am keeping a very beady eye on night time temperatures. I am definitely wrapping my tomatoes and chillis from friday evening and not just in one layer either and this is in the south. A difficult time to come for those of us with tender plants outside
I am washing flannel bedding today and will def be putting flannel back on the beds.
I have also spent some time yesterday taking plantlets out of sodden pots and re-planted in beds. Some were flagging because the roots were drowning. They all picked up overnight. They wouldn`t survive extreme cold plus being sodden0 -
Well DD has made it back into school today. I hope she's ok.
It's absolutely teeming down here. I'm hoping that I get loads of plums this year and some nice big pears. There are lots on the trees at present but none have dropped yet. I forget when they dropped last year but I have the phrase "the June drop" rolling around in my head for some reason. Does that sound about right?
Hope life is treating you all gentlyDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
