  • Good evening all,

This is the third time today I have tried to post.

It was murky first thing but then brightened up so I did some washing which is now folded awaiting the iron.

DGD and her BF have gone away for a few days so it is just us and Flora the cat.

Lainey I am so sorry about your Mum's diagnosis, but I think you did the right thing in not telling the young people until after the wedding. Your Mum will want everything to be as normal as possible, and for the bride and groom to have a lovely day. She has been looking forward to the wedding so I hope she is well enough to enjoy it.

I am sending you lots of love and all the courage in the world to help you cope with what is to come.

Sending much love to all my friends, isn't it wonderful that we are all friends, yet we have never met, although I do have a photo of Lyn with the Zebra Boy.

    Sleep tight

Wonderful, warm, comforting, giggly, supportive, caring, friends! and I'm so very glad we all are xxx.

Cookie went home at teatime, bless her she was very pleased to see Dad and her big sister, she's such a lovely little dog and no fuss at all, very well behaved and just loved being in the garden while we picked or worked and would lay in the shade or bring her ball to be thrown. There is a chance we might have her again in October over half term, I really hope so!

    Hello all ,
Lainey I am so sorry to read of your mums diagnosis , Sending strength and a gentle hug to you and the family , you will all be in my thoughts x
Lovely to see Lyn back where she belongs ! As another non-drinker I will raise a cup of yorkshire tea to celebrate .
Dear Candlelight it is so kind of you to keep us in mind . Over the last couple of months dd has gone rapidly downhill and is struggling to cope mentally with her mobility difficulties and constant exhaustion which means her life is even more restricted and summer is passing her by for another year . I haven't posted recently as I am worried about her and not sleeping well at all .
We saw our lovely doctor yesterday and he is trying to get a referral to help her get some positive help to cope .
Anyway sorry to have a moan . Sending hugs to any who need .
    Take care all

  • Good afternoon,

We have been over to the Farm shop and bought some lovely strawberries, blackberries and runner beans, oh and some beautiful tomatoes. I always have to smell them first to be sure they are greenhuse grown. I also treated myself to a bunch of sunflowers which reminds me of a holiday in Provence we had a few years ago. There were fields and fields of sunflowers and they turn their heads to face the sun, quite magical. I cut some foliage from the garden and a few stems of monbretia to go in the jug as well. I have placed it on the kitchen table and it looks lovely, although Flora keeps sniffing round it. She has a likeing for long leaves which makes her ill, so I have to keep a close eye on her.

I also bought a kilo of sausages from the butcher, it was a nice ride out, although the weather is still quite overcast.

My nephew is being married in London on Saturday. When we received the invitation we knew Himself wouldn't be well enough, although thankfully he has improved. Anyway DD1 and her niece DGD (who lives with us) are representing us and staying overnight at a hotel, so i will expect masses of photos to be sent.

Polly I am so sorry life is even harder for you and your DD at the moment. Please accept a gentle hug from me and my good wishes that she feels a little better sooner rather than later. There are so many poorlies at the moment on several threads I read, and I feel helpless, but please know that I am thinking of you..

    Much love to you all

  • We had a trip to the local boot fair this morning where I found 4 rimmed bowls, 3 soup cups to match 2 I already have, a white plant pot holder to continue my Scandinavian look in the lounge, a box of 3 emergency vehicle puzzles and a book of Machines for Zebra. He Who Knows got another demijohn so I can make some cider vinegar this year. We then had a run out to Winchester for the farmers market which sadly was a shadow of its former self and way too expensive for me, didn't even look particularly good produce either. Never mind we had lunch in the Cathedral Refectory sat outside in a beautiful quiet walled garden under some mature apple trees. Got home and I tackled the whole house with the duster and the vacuum cleaner and he Who Knows steam mopped all the floors downstairs, all nice and tidy now, lovely! Looking forward to supper tonight as I've defrosted a couple of YS sirloin steaks from my trip to Mr.T last week which we'll have with mushrooms and green beans, was going to do jackets with them but that's what we had for lunch.

    Hi everyone,

Lainey and Pollyanna - you're both in my thoughts, hugs winging their way for you.

Been catching up on everyone's news. Well it's Monday morning again - how does it come around so fast?!

We had a busy night on friday, our local rugby team was playing the All Blacks. Terribly exciting, we took my cousin's little lad and we managed to get him a few signatures on his jersey at the end before we had to drop him off with his uncle.

Saturday DH had 2 rugby matches, and I sorted the house out now the girls have gone home. I think I did 5 loads of washing. Weather was a bit iffy but I got some dry on the line at least, and then yesterday I FINALLY managed to get out on my bike, at long last! Went out to see my cousin so that's a 24 mile round trip and saves on fuel. She was very sweet and gave me lunch, and in the middle another friend arrived with lots of goodies from the (too-expensive for me) cafe. So I was very well fed and had quite a slow cycle home again.

I've started this bodyweight training thing too - crikey me I can barely do the excercises once! Even the warm up has me done in, but I'm determind to stick with it. I'll do some more tonight. The idea is that you don't need fancy equipment to excercise, using your bodyweight is resistance enough. And it certainly is!

The cats are missing the girls terribly, they've got so used to having daytime cuddles. Socks spent half the weekend following me around the house, shouting at me. She just wanted to be picked up. :-)

Better get onto some work, it's that time!

    Much love

Hello my lovely friends, good to read about all about your busy days.

We have had a quiet day at home, just the two of us with the girls. Apart from cooking a roast dinner I have done nothing apart from read, sit in the garden and walk the girls. Feel very tired at the moment and have arranged to take the whole week off work. Tbh, have more or less decided to hand my notice in, simply don't need the stress of going into that place every day but need to time this just right.

Polly, am so sorry to read that your DD is struggling at the moment, fingers crossed that there is some positive help to come your way, please take care of yourself as well x

Lyn, you certainly got a good haul from the car boot, just a shame that the farmers market wasn't up to scratch.

Candlelight, I love having sunflowers in the house, such bright cheery flowers. At the moment I have some gorgeous long stemmed yellow roses standing in the fireplace, beautiful.

Hoglet, pleased to hear that you have managed to get out on your bike, the bodyweight training sounds awesome, since Billy started his retirement and I haven't been doing much riding my fitness has certainly dropped off a bit so think need to start thinking of alternatives. Poor cats missing the girls.

Now watching and enjoying the cycling at the Olympics, aiming to stay up later tonight and go to bed worn out so hopefully will sleep better, well that's the the theory!

    Much love to all,
    Xx

Lainey I am so pleased you managed a nice day today and very wise to take the time off work and even wiser to consider leaving the job if you can . You will need all your energy at the moment . Candlelight Thank you again for your support , you are not helpless your kind words mean a great deal to me and I am sure the many others who you offer a kind word to , it makes me feel I am not alone and I am sure others feel the same . I hope things continue to be as ok as possible for himself , you and the rest of the family .
Thank you to Hoglet . What a busy lady you are , love the endurance exercise description but am afraid that ship sailed for me a long time ago ! Well done for the long bike ride and I hope the day goes well for you while the rest of us are hopefully sleeping .
Goodnight all - except Hoglet who I wish a good nights sleep when we are all plodding through tomorrow .

  • I do solemnly promise to come back when I finally get a minute and post properly but I just wanted to say I am thinking about you and your mum Lainey.
    NO FARMS = NO FOOD
  • What an uncomfortable night! way too hot to sleep and then in the early hours it chilled down and I felt cold. Hopefully today will be light in terms of having to think and concentrate as my little brain cell feels totally sluggish and wants to crawl back into it's cave and doze. We're having a nice easy day food wise, I picked blackberries last evening and we had some in porridge for breakfast, lunch will be hummus with all the edible home grown veg I can muster and supper will be a Tomato (home grown of course) and mozarella risotto from a Hugh FW book so no attention required when making any of it, just as well really!

Still waiting to hear from the builder on when he's coming to install the replacement double glazing units, I'm getting fed up with having to gallop round first thing every day sorting out the house and being up and dressed early just in case also makes doing and planning to do anything in the week impossible because we don't know which day he'll arrive. I want my life back!!!

A success with my Zebra, he's not been all that interested in potty training but when I was up with Nell I found in M&S a pack of 7 little boys pants with Toy Story and Carz characters printed on them and sent then down to him via Nell this weekend. Apparently yesterday he had his Carz pants on all day because they have 'Litnin Queen' on them Oma and stayed dry, progress methinks bless him.

Hang in there LAINEY love, always in my thoughts.
