Glad it all went well for you yesterday SCOTTISHMINNIE - had a lovely day myself both DDs in touch and lovely cards from them too. Nice surprise in the evening, DH took me to our local for a glass of wine and our super friendly host rocked up with pots of hyacinths for anyone who was a mum, wether they had the offspring with them or not! How nice is that? Have a good week, Cheers Lyn.0

Wow, I've just caught up! Lovely business caused by the spring weather isn't there? I've been mad busy too but mine has been clearing out indoors business. I did manage to get 2 loads dried on the washing line yesterday though so that's good.
I too worry about the state of oil and whatnot. I'm lucky enough that if there was a disaster, I would still be able to get to work as it's only 4 miles away. The children would have to be left alone for short periods of time though and I don't think I'm ready for that yet.
I have been busily selling and ditching stuff from my Aunty and Uncle's flat as they need to get it rented out. There is loads gone but even more left to go. I've listed stuff on ebay and facebook so am just hoping for good results.
My DS is in a dance show this evening so he is a little bit nervous about that. It's his first time on stage at the theatre and he says he's sure he'll be ok but that it's making his tummy go. Morning all, feeling a bit battered and bruised this morning as I managed to measure my length tripping over a loose paving slab - I didn't know bruises came in so many different colours! The lurcher however didn't do a runner as I had dropped his lead, and just came back to stand beside me looking puzzled. Lovely lady who had been driving past as I plummeted stopped and came running back to make sure I was OK how kind was that. Hope your littlie enjoyed her trip FTM and the other one is settling down with the ladybird invasion. KAZ hope your DS enjoyed his first theatre performance and also that you did too. Have a good day folks Cheers Lyn.0

Do you have any arnica in the house mrslw? I think you might be sore when you wake up tomorrow
I have been so busy, painted a room, helped to erect a trellis fence, cleaned and oiled decking that had gone white. It looks great now, we used osmo restore then non slip decking oil and it has done a grand job. Potted, planted, sowed and pulled the first rhubarb and wow it was sweet without sugar, called grandads favourite. I got a big robust root from ebay last year and it hasn`t let me down
I enjoyed bikeation last night, my mother was dutch and the apple pie brought back memories, although they didn`t really touch on the national dishes. I made similar today but no sugar at all ie 6 oz butter to 1 lb plain flour for crust. Bramleys chopped small and tossed in (a lot) of cinnemon. Heaped in crust and twisted strips on top. Baked at 160 ish for 80 mins, maybe putting heat up towards the end. It is totally gorgeous with sweetened custard. Not like a pie though
Am watching the budget with a bit of trepidation0 -
Hi KITTIE - Arnica applied yesterday in cream form and again this morning - You definately don't fall so easily in your 60s do you - only thing I remembered to not do was stick out an arm to save myself, probably avoiding something broken. I am however fairly well padded and heal very quickly so although I am sore at the moment, probably will feel ok in a couple of days. What a busy bee you've been and I have total envy over the rhubarb, we're still at the Bonsai stage with ours so am keeping going with all the frozen berries for the forseeable! Just done a garden inspection and wish to report that all three new gooseberries are leafing up, as are the redcurrants, and a blueberry bush we got last year and thought it had died. It is now leafing up nicely in a nice sunny spot near the house. Blackberries look good, apple tree is budding and so is the fig tree. I was lucky enough to be given a very small walnut tree three years ago by a friend and hes looking good too but it will be a few years before we see him crop I think. Will look at extending the range of herbs I grow as we will be making a new window box/container up above the dog line this spring! We absolutely adore continental apple pies/streudles yours sounds yummy. The budget will be get roundable whatever they decide to do or undo - we have the old fashioned approach to life, so whatever the adversity we find ways to manage, don't we? Have a good day toughies everywhere. Cheers Lyn.0

MrsLW - that sounds nasty hopefully you will recover quickly. At least your four legged friend didn't desert you. I remember having a spectacular fall when out walking with my little Jack Russell years ago. I was worried he would disappear as we were in rabbit infested piece of hillside but instead he came bounding back, leapt on my sprained ankle and howled for all he was worth like he was trying to attract attention. Despite the pain I was utterly helpless with laughter and I think he was thrilled that the walk back to the car took about 4 times longer than it should have done so that was 4 times as many rabbits to chase along the way:)
I've been really busy at work so it's a short visit tonight. We had a very odd situation at work today - we have a little tin just now for people to make a contribution if they take a biscuit from our supply. Last night I made empire biscuits and jam tarts and took them to work today. I didn't manage to get lunch as it was back to back meetings and mid afternoon I leaned over to have a jam tart when one of my colleagues remarked I hadn't "paid" for what I'd eaten. I thought she was joking and said "well as I made them I'm not paying for one too". She wasn't joking and went off on one about me being uncharitable, mean spirited and miserable. I held my own and now there is an atmosphere you can cut with a knife - lets hope we can smooth it over tomorrow. I'm not miserable but I did think paying 50p for one of my own cakes was a bit much. Am I being really mean?
I may be back later - I'm off to my mother's right now. She has a pair of trousers which need taken up and she has really bad eczema (sp) and hacks on her fingertips so can't sew herself. It won't be the prettiest job but as long as the hemming is hidden it will be ok.0 -
MrsLW, sorry about your fall. I hope you do heal up nice and quickly.
Scottishminnie, I would have been absolutely mortified and quite hurt by a comment like that. I'm the sort of person who takes things to heart really and I go over and over what is often meant to be a light comment.
The other night at work, I had a very large patient to move and needed lots of us to move them. I asked my friend if she was 'feeling beefy' as in strong and she took it as me meaning she was fat. I'm still worried about it now.
I have put in my first order to approved food this evening. £55 pounds worth. I think we'll be eating cous cous come the armageddon. I am sadly very excited and can't wait for the stuff to arrive. It will give me the push to get my food cupboards sorted out properly too. For heavens sake, they are so untidy and badly organised. I think I shall make that my mission for tomorrow.
I desperately need to run down and defrost my freezer too. It's getting a bit icy in there. When it eventually expires, I will be investing in a frost free version.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
