Sounds like a great night Hoglet, men seem to be extremes don't they - either all "man flu" or hiding the fact they are poorly.
Missing OH this week, it's tough with him away all week but really feeling it tonight.
15 eggs in this morning!!! 30 eggs sold though!0 -
Thank you Candlelight and Kate :-)
What sort of ducks do you have Kate?0 -
Good evening all.
My legs have been feeling a bit easier these last couple of days so I decided to finally tackle the kitchen today - it was in desperate need. Now am back to where I started - barely able to walk. WHY can't I learn to 'go steady' as is the lingo round my way?Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Pig News......... Yesterdy evening a breakthrough was made in the Lurcher household, a certain young pig called Olaf was offered the chance to consume his 'green goo' not from a syringe but from a jam jar lid. We are pleased to report that this was a marked success and that the pig involved didn't actually get too covered in the process. His aging grandparent is said to have repeated the performance this morning and wishes it to be known that Olaf has today also eaten about half an apple peeled and cut into matchsticks and quite a large chunk of cucumber prepared the same way. This report is currently making said grandparent and presumably the pig himself very happy!0

Good news MrsL, fingers crossed the progress continues.
AOT, it must be hard to pace yourself when you feel up to doing things x
Hoglet, we've got all sorts of ducks - khaki campbells, white campbells, cherry valleys, runners, saxonies, some bitsa ducks (bitsa this, bitsa that!)
The last ones we got were from facebook and they've never been "quite right". They were overfed and could barely walk when we got themMuch better now but they still sit down much more than our other ones.
Thank crunchy it's Friday. An hour and 3/4 to get home because of an accident on the motorway but at least I made it home safe and sound, they had the air ambulance out
Going to see the family on Sunday, can't wait. A few glasses of something red and alky-frolic tonight I thinkJust trying to work out what to have for dinner, getting back late has put paid to my plans. Might have to be something simple like carbonara

Hi everyone,
Lyn that is good news, he is a little fighter isn't he?
AOT time to take it steady for a little while now, I think, and then gather your strength for the next thing you want to do. I used to be able to go through the house like a dose of salts, but not now unfortunately I have to pace myself. When you are young, no one tells you about the effects age has on you. I used to be able to emulsion a room in a day and that was moving all the furniture and taking down the curtains. I am afraid it would probably take me 3 days now, I absolutely hate getting old.
Kate you sound really busy and so much livestock to look after as well. There was a really bad accident here early morning with one fatality, but it had been raining most of the night so whether the road was greasy I don't know.
FTM how are you all? I expect you will have a few visitors over the weekend because of Mothering Sunday and I hope you are totally spoilt.
DD1 is coming for lunch on Sunday, under her own steam, so we are having steak, salad and baby new potatoes. She is enjoying being independent again, although of course she still has pain, but we are very proud of her.
My BIL has had his 4th TIA (mini stroke) which is very worrying but he has an appointment at clinic at the hospital soon.
Hoglet and SM:wave: hope you are both well.
Have a good weekend all
Much love

Morning all, by gorry it's chilly here today with flat grey skies and a light breeze I think we'll be lighting the fire early this afternoon. I got all my shopping etc done yesterday so I don't need to go out other than to walk the Dockling and I've plenty to keep me occupied indoors too and this afternoon is THE RUGBY on the telly so hoorah for that too! DD and that Zebra communicated last night to say they were home safe and sound from their holiday in the snow and that Zebra was bathed, asleep and so happy to be home in 'his' house again, sweet eh? Olaf continues to munch, I have to cut his food into thin matchsticks but he's managing to pick them up and eat on his own, s vast improvement he is also wibbling at me when he knows I'm around in the room and likes to come out for cuddles so he must be feeling better.
FUDDLE how is that bunny getting on? I hope she's used to you all now and starting to interact with the girls, she's such a cutie, she's an Easter Bunny isn't she?0 -
Happy Mothers Day everyone, I hope you've all had a nice day. We've just been pottering but I've spoken to both girls and that Zebra and had a nice bunch of flowers, some nice cards and a homemade daffodil from Nell through the post. It's been a grey and damp day, very cold too so I'm looking forward to a nice pork and apple casserole for my supper which is simmering away in the oven now and making lovely savoury smells. I've been very OS too and used some stale teacakes (the bun variety) to make us a bread and butter pudding instead of the jam tart I was going to make. We'll have that later in the week.
So excited, I was watching the TV this morning and 'Click' showed a wonderful cathedral in Barcelona with the most beautiful stained glass windows and when I was talking to Nell I mentioned it and said she should watch as it was lovely. Next thing I know I've got a very excited girlie on the phone saying 'let's go, let's go in the summer, let's visit I've always wanted to go to Barcelona' so we are, flights and hotel booked and Barcelona here we come for 4 days at the end of July beginning of August, WooHoo!!!0 -
Oh Lyn that is exciting and all booked as well.
I have been to a few European cities but never Barcelona, I am sure you will have a wondeful time, and once Nell gets the bit between her teeth there is no stopping her is there?
Hope Docky and Olaf are well and gave their Mummy a kiss today:)
Much love

Morning everyone :-)
Oooh MLW that sounds absolutely lovely. I've never been to Barcelona but wish I had.
Kate - I'm going to look up all those breeds of ducks - they sound absolutely fascinating. I'd really love to have some, one day!
Well the usually relatively busy weeked for us, although we are in the middle of the cyclone at the moment, not that we've had any damage oursleves thank goodness. Our area hasn't been badly affected but others have. Just a bit of wind and rain for us, and Alfie still wanted to go out in it, came in dripping wet for his breakfast.
Potluck dinner at my cousin's was a great success, everyone liked my thai green curry and some people wanted the recipe. My other cousin took the left overs home so it obviously went down well.
Yesterday was a bit of storm preparation in the garden - tying up bits of plants, harvesting as many toms as possible - I can barely give them away at the moment - bringing in furniture and moving the bigger pieces around so they were protected by the house. Made some oven dried tomatoes, kale chips and started the pickled onions. Unfortuantely the rain started early so all the bed sheets had to be dried in the tumble dryer.
Well that's about it from us, not much news to speak of..
I hope youre all keeping well,
love Hoglet x0
